Online Rules for Carnival Currents Summer 2009 Photo Contest

1. To enter, send (1) a color photo (any size) you took during a Carnival cruise together with (2) the ship’s name, dates of travel and (3) your name, address and daytime phone number to: Currents Magazine Photo Contest, Dept. LN308, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, IA 50309-3023. To be eligible, an entry must be the entrant’s original, nonprofessional photo and may not have been entered in any other contest, won any other prize or have been previously published in any medium. Each entrant must have written permission from any human subject of his/her photograph and grants Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, IA (Sponsor) the right to publish or display the photo submission in any way. Sponsor reserves the right to reject and disqualify any photographs that could be offensive and to disqualify any entries that receive legal challenges on the basis of copyright ownership or insufficient model consent. Contest begins June 1 2009. Entries must be received by July 3, 2009. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, late, mutilated or illegible entries. All materials submitted become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged. Sponsor and Carnival Cruise Lines, 3655 N.W. 87th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33178-2428 (collectively the Promotion Entities) are not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest or in the announcement of any prize.

2. The Contest is open to amateur photographers who are legal U.S. or Canadian residents, 18 years and older (except residents of AZ, CO, MD, TN, VT and the province of Quebec). Employees (and their immediate families and those living in their same household) of the Promotion Entities and their parents, subsidiaries and affiliates are not eligible. Entry constitutes agreement to these Official Rules and to the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest and constitutes permission to use photos, name, hometown and likeness for editorial purposes on behalf of any Promotion Entity without compensation unless prohibited by law. Any entry may be featured in future issues of Currents.

3. On or about February 13, 2009, entries will be judged equally on subject matter, composition and lighting by a panel of judges selected by the Sponsor. In the event of a tie, the winning entry will be the one with the highest score in the composition criterion. All decisions of judges are final. Winners will be notified by mail on or about April 23, 2009.

4. Two winners will each receive a digital camera (ARV $250).

 

5. Camera winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Copyright Assignment to photo, Liability Release and, where lawful, Publicity Release within ten (10) days of notification.

 

6. Winners agree that Promotion Entities, their parents, affiliates and subsidiary companies and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents have no liability whatsoever and will be held harmless by winner for any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind to person including death and property, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly for the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a prize, participation in and contest activity or participation in this contest. By accepting the prize, winners consent, where lawful, to the use of his/her name, portrait, picture, hometown name for publicity, advertising and promotional articles and purposes without additional compensation.

7. RELEASES: Entrants authorize the Sponsor to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in promotional material and for advertising, public relations and editorial purposes worldwide, in perpetuity, or on a winner’s list, if applicable, without further compensation unless prohibited by law. Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above-mentioned information or materials, but may do so and may edit such information or materials, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.

8. Subject to all U.S. federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited and in AZ, CO, MD, TN, VT and the province of Quebec. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of winners. Prizes are nontransferable. Cash will not be awarded in lieu of a prize.

9. For a list of winners, available after April 23, 2009, send a separate SASE to Currents Winter 2009 Winners List, Dept. LN308, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, IA 50309-3023. Vermont residents may omit return postage.

Sorry one more with a story.

This is DW and I on right. Other couple we met in Costa Maya June of last year. They are from our hometown. We have become great friends and traveled together a year later on the Glory Eastern. This was at captains party one night. I like to say.. We had to travel all the way to southern Mexico to meet our Great friends and it was worth it!

I tried to upload and it doesn't work!:o I copy and paste pics from my PC hard drive to upload. When I preview my post, I don't see the pics, I only see the address of the pic instead. So I had to discard my post.

The easiest way is if the photo is already on the Internet somewhere. Photobucket and Webshots are two well known and free photo hosting sites. However, there are others.
