Please help, I need suggestions from experts!

What better place to ask for help then here from all you cruise experts.

I'm taking a pass or fail course for 5 days on giving presentations starting next week. At the end I have to give a presentation on something not work related but that we are passionate about.

So guess what I think I will pick? You guessed it cruising.

Now for the help, I haven't started the course but we have to submit my info before the class begins and then we can change it.

1st - I need a catching title, I'm looking for some unique suggestions. :D

2nd- what part of cruising should I talk about? It's a 20-30 minute presentation. One idea I had was as if it was for first time cruisers that have no idea where to begin. Another one, I don't like as much was tips or tricks but can't really think of a great way to lead into that. I'm open for any and all ideas. :D

3rd - I need to maybe add audiovisual, handouts (I thought some of you might know some websites where I can print some handouts.) , audience interaction and I must conclude with a summary of the main points.

I'm hoping I will get some great ideas from fellow cruise lovers. I might also convert others in the class to cruise lovers.:D :D

Please help me get moving in the right directions with lots of ideas!

Or that first timers have no idea what to expect. Someone I work with couldn't understand why I would cruise when I could go to an all inclusive resort for less until I explained that on a cruise you unpack once and wake up each morning in a different place. You could us the capers as handouts to show the different activities they have each day.

You can even go to the Carnival website and print directions to make a towel animal!

Don't forget to mention the value of cruising vs other types of vacations.

How about discussing how cruising has changed so much since the 70's/80's? If you have a means to show video clips, I would find something with the Love Boat and perhaps include shots of people on cruises back in the day and then show a clip of the new concept ships that are in the works, like that huge one by RCCL. How about discussing all the new itineraries, like Asian, European, South American, Hawaiian, and Australian?

I liked the idea about handing out capers as tools, how about menus, too? How about discussing how family oriented cruising can be? How about discussing how the different cruiselines are perceived and marketed? Just stuff that comes to mind...

I think starting from square 1 is a great idea. Give the options for cruising. Do they want to go to Alaska? Caribbean? Europe? Canada? South America? Many people may not know how extensive cruise itineraries are.

Explain different kinds of ships with different activites and stmospheres. Small, big, etc. Types of rooms, pros and cons, etc.

After everyone picks a destination, you can hand out the capers and say, whatever destination you end up in, the activities you do on board will be the same - fun and relaxing.

Walk them through a sea day and all the activities and options (make sure to include food, casino, shows, spa, lido deck games, club/dancing, etc.).

Walk them through a port day (maybe an excursion from several different ports).

I think stressing the "go to sleep and wake up in a different country" is very important and grasps people in.

PICTURES! PICTURES! PICTURES! If you don't have enough of your own, feel free to use any of mine, and I'm sure some others on here would let you use theirs (ask permisison though ;) ) (landscape pictures, not pictures with CC members in it, probably!!)

As for the title:

-Cruising Somewhere Beyond the Sea

-Fun Days at Sea (simple but defintiely characterizes the cruising way, using perhaps known terminology)

-Cruising for Dummies (or Cruising for Newbies)

-Enjoy Your Day the Cruising Way

This is fun, I could do it all day. I should become a TA ;) .

When I think of more alliterations and/or rhymes, I'll let you know.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

People that have cruised once are driven to repeat the experience.

The only way they can survive between cruises is to visit a cruise message board to read about other people's cruising experiences.

Hi....I did this for a oral report for college in May of this year. It was so much fun. I talked about how big (ton's) the ship is and how many people it can sail with the different activity's that they had on board for everyone! I also included the ports of call and excursions with pictures of everything. I also collect sand for each port that I have been to and used that as a visual. They all loved it and I got an A on the report. I had done mine on the ship "Fantasy" and the different types of food that they had, cabin choices. The title I used was "cruising to exotic places". Plus people on the boards helped me with different pictures of tendering and docking and the difference between them. I had printed them all up and used them on a board to display them and it made it easier to talk about everything on there and not forget. Good luck, you will have fun!

Title: Cruise Do's, and Don'ts. Open by showing headlines/stories of silly/dumb things people have done on a cruise (overhead or power point). Discuss important things to do or must do's on a cruise. Tell about what makes cruising great and how a cruise is what you make it. Briefly go over the don'ts.

If you have video clips, I would show the end of Pirates I--"Now Bring me that horizon" at your conclusion.
