Cancellation due to Hurricane

It would be a rare day if they ever cancelled a cruise due to weather. They usually just head away from the storm and provide a different itinerary.

There is never any guarentee of your itinerary... itineraries are always, "weather and conditions permitting".

They are usually pretty good about finding other suitable ports... and sometime just "cruise to nowhere" which is another name for a cruise that only has sea days and no port stops. Depends how long the cruise is.

Best of luck. :)

You get your money back if the sailing is completely cancelled.

You can rebook for a later day, but you'll be paying whatever the going rate is for that sailing

If your sailing is altered (goes from a 7 night to a 5 night cruise for example), you'll be elegible for a pro-rated refund.

Whatever the situation is you won't loose your money...

No insurance needed to get these refunds.

We were booked on Ecstasy for a Halloween cruise in 2005. The cruise was canceled due to FEMA chartering Ecstasy in the aftermath of Katrina. We were automatically rebooked on another ship at the same rate. We also had the option to cancel and receive a refund without penalty.

Our original booking was for Ecstasy going to Cozumel and Calica. We wound up sailing Elation to Progreso and Vera Cruz as hurricane Wilma knocked out Cozumel two weeks before sailing. We had a wonderful time and really loved Vera Cruz. If you book during hurricane season you must be prepared to roll with the changes.

Your chances of a cruise being totally cancelled are very very very slim. I hear Fantasy is waiting 2 days to come in, so the next cruise will be 2 days late going out. You could have your cruise extended or cut short or missed ports as is happening now, but its rare to be totally cancelled. Not something to worry about it happens so rarely.
