Hoosier Cruiser Posted April 16, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Saw Chris Bliss a few years back at a local comedy club - I remember his name and that he was funny; we enjoyed him. It seems maybe he did something with ping pong balls back then. . . anyway, love the Platters, too. Enjoy! Rare GaryWT Posted April 16, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Bowser from Sha Na Na was on our last cruise, that was fun. We have seen "El Rauncho" (El Gaucho) 2 times, once he was OK the other time he was a pig and the show was not fun. 3/98 Grandeur of the Seas 4/00 Grandeur of the Seas 2/02 Enchantment of the Seas 04/16/05 Navigator of the Seas
Sophie Posted April 16, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 16, 2004 The Platters!! Ohhh! I'm jealous! I emailed RCCI about a month ago to find out who the headliners will be on my cruise. I got an answer the very same day saying my cruise was too far away to tell us yet. (12-5-04-Rhapsody) The email said to try again closer to the cruise date. Hope we get someone great, too!! Happy cruising! Sophie
Rare Hlitner Posted April 16, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 16, 2004 We had the Platters on our 2/27 Brilliance Cruise. One of the original Platters is with the group, although he does little than provide some bass harmony and introduce the songs. But, the current group is great and they have a terrific lead singer (can't remember his name). The Platter's music is as good today as it was in the 50s and early 60s. You will love the show! truffles2 Posted April 16, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 16, 2004 We had El Gaucho on Serenade in Feb... When I saw it in the Compass I was tempted not to go as he was advertised as "An Argentinan Cowboy" or something like that. Anyway, he was the best entertainment of the week. bready2cruise Posted April 16, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 16, 2004 On Voyager's 3/28 sailing, we had the Drifters on board Friday night. They put on an awesome, unforgettable show. The entire showroom was standing on their feet, clapping & dancing. The Platters will be great too!
Samdel Posted April 16, 2004 Author #16 Share Posted April 16, 2004 All you have to do is email RCI, and believe me it sometimes takes a while for an answer. I emailed them about 5 weeks ago and just got it yesterday! But, I went on the RCi site where it says "contact us" and just emailed them our sail date, reservation number. We saw the Platters in 2001 on Explorer and it was just awesome, and we couldn't be more pleased with it. The Diamonds (another 50-60's group) was on Radiance in Nove, 2003, but they were all new people who had, I guess, "purchased" the name and revived the group. They were good, but when you can see one of the original singers...well. Thanks everyone for the info and hope to see some of you on board with us. 41 days til AOS

I'll have to email RCCL and find out what the entertainment is on the Mariner. Would have liked to meet you. CruisesAreBest
Samdel Posted April 19, 2004 Author #22 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I know many of you are jealous with us having the PLATTERS as our guest entertainers on AOS May 30-Jun 6. If anyone is sailing with us, please reply and let's talk. As it looks, we have only about 8 groups sailing with us. That's okay, I LOVE THE ROYAL SUITE!!!
