Portofino Restaurant or Chops Grille?

I am interested in trying out one of the specialty restaurants, does anyone have a recommendation of one or the other?

They are both excellent dining experiences. If you are primarily "meat eaters" then Chops is for you. And Portofino has wonderful Italian fare and a seafood skewer to die for. That said, my husband had a wonderful steak dinner at Portofino. Both offer the best dessert--Flourless chocolate cake--don't miss it. If you can swing it, I'd say go to both! That's what we do when we're on a ship that has both restaurants. Decisions were never my long suit...;)

I've eaten at both on Independence and whilst we enjoyed Chops very much we both prefer Portofino's. It's a wonderful meal; truly. I have the menu as a PDF and don't know if / how that can be posted here. Here's a picture of the tiramisu dessert......

We can't make up our minds so we are doing both on our cruise this October. I actually had the Fillet in Portofinos on Explorer last time and it was wonderful.

 

 

We did Chops on Radiance and Jewel and it was great both times! I recommend doing both if possible but if I was forced to make a choice, it would be Portofinos.

We've gone to both on several ships, and each time I've enjoyed Portofino's more. Even the filet mignon at Portofino has been better than the one served at Chops.

I went to Portofinos 3 out of 4 nights on my 4 day NOS cruise, I enjoyed each meal and the ambiance (so quite compared to the MDR) and staff were wonderful. I went to Chops the other night and while very good my overall preference is still for Portofino's. I plan on visiting Portofino multiple times on my upcoming B2B.

I have been to both and I thought the dinner at Chops was better, but the dessert at Portifinos was better. So I guess I liked both, LOL.
