Ship - Eclipse

Deck - 11 Penthouse

Cabin # - 1506

Class – AQ

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Extremely quiet. No noise from gym above, as noted on some Solstice comments.

Balcony View - Third cabin from the bridge, which is one deck lower, so you can see clearly over it... the whole starboard horizon is visible, so nothing is really obstructed. The starboard side of the bridge is the extra control panel, and therefore hardly used. Only the occasional 'watch' crew was even there, and they never look up at you, so no problem with 'privacy'.

Balcony Size? Normal for class

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? None, only nice advantages (see below). These would also apply to close by cabins such as 1502, 1504,1508,1510, 1512 etc.

Any other comments? I specifically booked this forward cabin as wanted sun on our balcony, and no overhang from above. Important note: from the beginning of the hump all the way towards the aft, there is a very large/deep overhang from the deck above (and in the back half of the ship, from 2 decks above). The struts are 1 1/2 decks high. Some people like shade, but for us, that view impeded on our vista, so we made sure to book the forward part of the ship. If you look at a clear photo of the side of the ship, you will see what I mean. The AQ was a clever gimmick by Celebrity to sell what otherwise would be lousy balconies (brilliant, if you ask me, take the worst balconies and give them the best dining room). ONLY the forward part of deck 11 is NOT affected by this huge overhang (except for the PH suites on the hump, of course).

The other nice thing about this location was that it was just steps from the relaxation room, which we took advantage of often. It was also easy to just pop up the hallway in our robes even, and check if no one was there (frequently the case) and have to ourselves. There is always hot herbal tea and iced fruit water available too. Only thing, they close the doors at night... after 10 pm or so it seemed. The secret staircase down to the spa level is also in that front starboard section, so that made it easy to pop down to the gym or steam room, or Persian Gardens, without being seen in the main hallway/elevator area.

We had Angel and Cesar as our stewards, and they were fantastic! They always seemed to anticipate our needs, and were clairvoyant about our comings & goings.

Ship - ECLIPSE

Deck - 11 Penthouse

Cabin # - 1503 (1501, 1505,1507,1509 etc would be similar location, just different placement of bed)

Class – AQ

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony

Quiet Cabin – Very quiet. no noise at all.

Balcony View - Clear view of horizon. Bridge wing protrudes from deck below, but doesn't really obstruct your view, as it is below the water/horizon line. Port side of bridge has full control panel, so usually there was at least one person in sight, but nothing to worry about re: privacy. Just don't stand right at your balcony railing naked! This cabin location actually makes it interesting to watch the bridge crew when entering a port.

Balcony Size? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? none, in fact things were better than usual (Fall 2010) Renaldo was our cabin steward and he always did a great job picking up our cabin on a daily basis, which was nice, and not the norm experience in other cabins. (Straightening up counter/dresser mess, hanging up clothes, arranging toiletries neatly in bathroom, etc. Wish I had that at home!) We followed with another B2B cruise, and he even moved our clothes/closet belongings and bags for us, so we only half-packed up. (We were unable to get the same cabin when we booked the b2b).

Any other comments? I specifically booked this forward cabin as wanted sun on our balcony, and no overhang from above. Important note: from the beginning of the concave hump where the ship goes IN not out (starting at 1447 port and 1552 starbd -- all the way towards the aft), there is a very large/deep overhang from the deck above (and in the back half of the ship, from 2 decks above). The struts are 1 1/2 decks high. Some people like shade, but for us, that view impeded on our vista, so we made sure to book this forward part of the ship. If you look at a clear photo of the side of the ship, you will see what I mean. The AQ was a clever gimmick by Celebrity to sell what otherwise would be lousy balconies (brilliant, if you ask me, take the worst balconies and give them the best dining room). ONLY the forward part of deck 11 is NOT affected by this huge overhang (except for the PH/suites on the hump, of course).

The other nice thing about this location was that it was just steps from the relaxation room, which we took advantage of often. It was also easy to just pop up the hallway in our robes even, and check if no one was there (frequently the case) and have to ourselves. Fabulous view of bow/horizon especially in the early morning as we approached ports. No one was ever there those mornings. There is always hot herbal tea and iced fruit water available too. Only thing, they close the doors at night... after 10 pm or so it seemed, but were opened again by 5 or 6 am.

Deck - 9

Cabin # - 1243

Class – Concierge C2

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath

Quiet Cabin – Mostly quiet, but the cabin door is near the elevator (a big plus) . There are no automatic sliding doors to isolate that area like there were on other decks. Balcony View - Last balcony on the angle before the hump, next to a large suite. Great views. Small life boat below.

Balcony Size? Huge for this category. Sun near the rail when you needed, shade closer to door if you don't.

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? Entering cabin door, the bathroom is on the right. Bed is close to bathroom, couch is next to balcony, no pullman. Cabin location was perfect for us.

Attached is the most recent version of the spreadsheet. Due to upload limits, it had to be divided into 2 parts.

Please let me know if you note errors or omissions. The discrepancy in cabin categories is a result of Celebrity reclassifying certain cabins, not a reporting or typographical error.

If you would like an Excel version (one document) please email me.

We leave for our Summit cruise in 6 days so I may take longer than usual to respond.

Deck - Penthouse? (it was Deck 11)

Cabin # - 1544

Class – AQ

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet, right next to the forward elevators so I thought we'd have a lot of noise, we had none. We heard the cabin next door open their door I think once. Also, directly above this cabin is the Elemis spa retail store, which gets little foot traffic and is closed at night, so you really have nothing to worry about in terms of what's above you.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great views, if you look to your right you can see the window washing equipment several cabins down, but it doesn't affect the view from this balcony at all. Looking to your left, you can see the bridge.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal sized, plenty of room for lounging, reading, eating breakfast. No complaints.

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? one of the drawers in the set beneath the tv doesn't close all the way (it sticks out about an eighth of an inch), other than that, the room was perfect.

Any other comments? I'd book this cabin again in a heartbeat, it was great not having to walk down a long hall, once you got off the elevator, you were at your room!

Deck - 10

Cabin # 1005

Class – C3

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Near bath. Sofa is a sleeper sofa.

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – As the third cabin back from the bridge it had very little traffic in the hallway, aside from some officers and crew headed to and from the bridge. The noise of other people's vacuum toilet flushes could be heard, but this is common on ships.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – I was worried about the privacy of our balcony being so close to the bridge wing, but it turned out not to be such a problem. When the port side was adjacent to a pier, we could watch the captain control the ship when docking and departing. Often the wing was empty of officers and if they were there they would politely ignore us. If we sat close to the righthand balcony partition (the one closest to the bridge) we were out of view of the bridge. Also, the bridge didn't obstruct the views too badly and you could see through its windows.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? No. However, when you open or close the sliding glass door while the ship is moving the wind creates a loud, eerie howl for the brief moment just before or after securing the handle.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? NA

Any specific problems with this cabin? No.

Any other comments? It was a great cabin and a lot of thought was put into its design to maximize space. Lots of storage in the bathroom. Being located forward made it very convenient to go to the fitness center and the Aqua Spa Cafe.

From our Solstice Cruise last week, starting 11/28/2010

Cabin: 7227 Solstice

Deck: 7

Class: 2A

Area: Port, on central "bulge"

Bed near: Balcony

Quiet: Very quiet, especially considering how close to the aft elevators. Nice sound barricade between us and them. Sometimes a faint whistle/whooshing sound from air exhaust vent inside shower, but it was never audible from the cabin.

Balcony View: Excellent and very private. The half-mirror "X" covered the entire balcony glass (below the rail) which was a mixed blessing. On the one hand, it made the ocean hard to see in many lighting conditions. I thought this would rankle, at first, and it is a deficit. On the other hand, when you're in port you don't have to wear pants to step out on the deck or sunbathe. This overcame the other objection. Honestly, in decent weather you don't spend tons of time on your balcony.

Balcony size: normal

Wind a problem: no more than anywhere else. On this trip the prevailing winds were generally from the starboard side.

Soot? None

Problems/Comments: Very nice location midship made it easy to get to aft elevators in just a few steps and fore elevators in just a few more. Because the room is sandwiched between other stateroom floors, we heard nothing from any other floor. No power near the beds, and my 12-foot extension cord didn't reach from the "desk" to the bedside table. (That's the only place I found any outlets in the stateroom at all.) Bring a 25-foot cord next time.

Amazingly well-laid-out bath has a good amount of personal storage spaces and a full shower in very small floor plan -- yet feels amply large (for a ship). Our dressy clothes maxed out the closet, but we were able to deploy everything around the other spaces, especially over the bed.

Can be connected to 7225.

Deck - Equinox - Vista Deck

Cabin # - 8154

Class – 1C

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – This cabin is extremely close to the elevators at the front of the ship. We didn't hear them at all. However, the wall are thin and our neighbors kept slamming their door at all hours... But, other than that it was quiet.

Balcony View - There isn't any obstructions to the left and right. If you look down, this cabin isn't over a lifeboat. There is a large white box of some sort a few levels below, but it didn't block the view of the water at all.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal with 2 chairs and a table.

Was wind a problem? Not specifically for this cabin. When the ship is sailing, the wind is always up...

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? Not a problem at all.

Any other comments? The odor in the hall was fine, the shower was nice, Lenie - the housekeeper was good, everything was great about this room! I would recommend it.

Ship: Eclipse

Deck - Deck 11

Cabin # - 1547

Class – AQ

Starboard or Port Side - Port Side

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – I was very surprised at how quiet the cabin was. Only heard chairs dragging on disembarkation day on floor above.

Balcony View - The window washing equipment was directly in front on the cabin next door to us (1549), so if you looked to your left, you clearly saw it. It really didn't bother us and the huge balcony was well worth the location. If you leaned out and looked right, you could see the bridge. If you looked straight ahead, you just saw beautiful ocean view (on sea days of course)

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Huge balcony. Definitely oversized for class!

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin?

Any other comments? I'd book this cabin again. Loved the location and balcony.

Deck - 11

Cabin # - 1604

Class – Aqua

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) –Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Fairly quiet. Room is directly below the pool's entertainment area, so some music noise in afternoon, and a few noises in the morning (which I slept through and I'm a light sleeper)

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Generally good, very shady, see forward

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Slighly larger as it is on the beginning of bump area. 1606, 1608 as well, and 1610 is the bump (biggest deck)

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – This cabin is near the card room but you cannot hear the card room at all.

Balcony View - The only obstructions were life boats directly below but this had no impact on our view at all. It was lovely!

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal with 2 chairs and a table.

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? Nothing at all.

Any other comments? The room was great - lots of storage. We put our suitcases under the bed. Very rarely we would hear people on their balcony or in their room but this was VERY rare. We had great views sailing into port and got some wonderful pictures. We would definitely book this cabin again. Cheryl was great and took fantastic care of us.

ECLIPSE (12/4-12/11/10)

Deck - 7 (Sunrise deck)

Cabin # - 7290

Class – 1A

Starboard or Port Side -Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony (which we prefer)

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) –

Not connecting.

Extremely quiet despite proximity to aft elevators. Cabins above and below buffer sound and being on the aft side angle of the hump limits wind/weather noise.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No Obstruction, but lifeboats visible if looking down or aft. Because it's on the aft angle of the hump, you cannot really see forward. The view was still great straight out.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -Extra large, 2.5x the average size. (please note that previous review of this cabin on Solstice lists the balcony size as regular, which is incorrect)

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem?n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? We had one glitch-one night the divider between our balcony and our forward neighbors came unhinged on its own. We heard some thudding noises as it swung back and forth, but assumed it was the normal creaking of a ship. In the a.m. we realized what had happened and guest relations sent someone to re-bolt it. This could have happened to any cabin, I suppose.

We also had trouble getting the cabin door to close all the way. You had to pull it tight very hard.

Any other comments? The balcony was about 50% of the total cabin size so it dramatically expanded our living space. We could have fit the bed and more out there! One interesting point-the wall on the forward side (left) of the balcony is solid all the way to the ground while the one on the aft side (right) did not continue to the floor-you could have passed something underneath. We think the solid wall helped prevent wind, which we felt none of even though we could hear it was windy and felt it while out on deck.

Our cabin steward was Mario and he was lovely.

We loved this cabin :). Being so close to the elevator and stairs made getting to the main dining room and buffet a breeze. The balcony was wonderful and allowed for much privacy. It was so big that we sat out there when it rained and stayed totally dry.

Deck - Penthouse/11

Cabin # - 1571

Class – AQ

Starboard or Port Side - Portside

Bed near? Bath, we prefer this as room feels larger

Quiet Cabin - Slight noise in cabin, ongoing noise in bathroom.

Balcony View - Good. Had 6 -8 foot overhang past railing. This protected room from sun and heat w/o darkening room. Did not diminish view. Husband and I liked this - made room feel more luxurious" (19- year-old sun-loving daughter hated it.) All "overhang rooms" have diagonal supporting beams visible somewhere. This was one cabin down from us.

Balcony Size? Normal

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? Listening hard, with "Cruise Critic" ears, we could hear deck chairs being moved above. No problem. Something that did bother DH and I, was the constant "gurgling" sound in the bathroom. Must have been related to a pool drain? It could NOT be heard in the cabin when door was closed, but gave a definite "tenement - we need to call the super" vibe.

Would we accept this cabin again? Yes.

Would we seek it out? No.
