Free things on board that most don't know about

I was a past guest on Carnival about 13 years ago but they cannot find my past guest #. My room mate is a past guest.. like a previous post read do you think they will let me attend the past guest party also?

If you have any pictures taken on the ship as proof that you were there or capers, etc I would send them in and ask to be given credit for your cruise.

I agree with Rv Gypsey (posted above). We were just on a Princess cruise in January and went through our whole box of Gravol (same as Dramamine) so we asked at the purser's desk if they had any meds for seasickness and they told us to buy some in the shop. It cost $1.99 for 2 tabs of Dramamine there! and Bonine was more. We weren't happy since the year before on Carnival Valor they gave us some for free.

Ice cream tip: on Princess there isn't free soft serve all over like on Carnival, but they do serve regular hard ice cream (various flavours) in the buffet, usually the main buffet line, only from 3:30 to 4:30 daily in the afternoon (at least they did on Emerald Princess). We only found out about this on our last sea day, as they do not put up signs or mention it in the daily Patter.

We asked for a lanyard in the casino on the Legend. They looked at us like we were crazy and told us to buy one in the gift shop.

When did you ask? I was on the Legend last March...went to the casino the afternoon we boarded, and there was a nice woman walking around with a ton of them and a hole punch. She gave us each on (including the kids) and punched the cards.

I can't believe this woman! I would love to catch her getting something for free from my lounge chair. I would give her a free ride over the side of the ship!

You must be rushing to post before reading on. Myself I laughed out loud on reading that subtly hilarious post.

When I first read the original post, not getting the humor in it, I was instantly transported to a trip on NCL - where, as a novice, I left my new paperback on the lounge chair while I went to the "girls' room". Bam - gone - and I spent the rest of the trip wondering why someone would do that.

The post, therefore, brought back my sense of "that ain't fair" - and "I wasn't gone THAT long".

I shall work on my humor before Feb 2010 - but I still won't be leaving any things of value on deck chairs!

Doesn't this border a bit on stealing? Or is there some code at sea that says it's okay?

If it's left alone for an extended period it's been abandoned, therefore it's up to the rest of us to claim things and bring them to a good loving home.

If you are being a chair hog and just leaving your stuff there more then 30 minutes you deserve to lose all your stuff.

Chair hogging is just plain wrong, my idea is, move your feet, lose your seat!

:D:D very funny thread - where do you store all the stuff you rehome? Certainly on all the cruises I have been on there are loads of empty chairs with stuff on - I would be over my weight allowance on the way home - maybe thats how self storage started :rolleyes:

When I flew home long haul the other day the couple in front of me were taking all the books left on the empty seats - ebay maybe?

What a great thread!!!

At the Captains Evening last year on Canival Splendor the waiters gave out free glasses of wine and champagne.

What most people did'nt know was that if you did not like the above drinks you could go to the bar and order what you wanted!!--myself and little sis managed 3 cocktails--brilliant.

Not sure if this happens on other lines.

Get a copyright release form from the Image Group to make copies of your photos at your local Walmart, Costco, ect.

They make great Christmas Cards!

https://www.image.com/html/guest-postcruiseCopyrightReleaseForm.cfm

I didn't see Carnival as a participating cruise line for this clearance. However, if I was going to make cards - and I could not get a release - I would think my own scanner would provide a means to the end, albeit without the blessings of King Neptune. It is a simple thing to make one's own cards rather than to farm the job elsewhere. Just one opinion amongst many, just one crooked path to walk amongst many others.

I was told by an employee at Sam's club that because the photos were from a foreign photograpy studio(ships registered overseas), I would be able to scan them without problems. I just wanted my copies smaller, one to put in a photo album, and one for a frame. My gripe is that they only offer the pictures in one size, or you end up having them put all the poses on a disk to get other sizes. Cha-ching. Don't always want all the poses, just want the choice of size, usually smaller.
