sprite Posted February 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2009 So, just how bad will traffic be getting to port? Are there plenty of parking spaces? Now that parking is before the terminal, do we still follow the routine of dropping passengers and luggage off at the terminal and then the driver backtracks to the parking? Thanks! smeyer418 Posted February 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2009 traffic is one of those things that is in the eye of the beholder. I might think its light and the same traffic you might think is heavy. It also depends on when you get there. Its the normal everyone is there at the same time thing. The traffic flow at Port Liberty brings you around a building and straight ahead is the parking. Unfortunately the drop off area is then to your left. You drop off the luggage and the passengers, drive around that building again and park your car and either walk back to the terminal or take the mini van back. There are adequate number of spaces. 138east Posted February 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2009 There was almost no traffic getting to the port. However, the traffic can back up inside the port area getting into the drop off area. You drop off and then you swing around and come back to park without getting into the traffic line again. It was very easy. They may have shuttle buses, but you can easily walk. You will be no further away from the terminal area than you would be at a busy shopping mall. Jimbo Posted February 24, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Can you just go directly to the parking lot and then just wheel your luggage over to where the porters are picking it up rather then dropping it off first and parking the car or does it have to be dropped off first before parking the car? Jimbo:)

agabbymama Posted March 6, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2009 We were on Constellation in Sept '06 on a Sunday, and traffic wasn't too bad getting to the Port, maybe 30 minutes from TImes Square, but once there the lines were horrendous. We were in a van and sat for about 30 minutes waiting to pull into the place where passengers and luggage is dropped. At the end of the cruise, it was an absolute madhouse. People were everywhere, those getting off the cruise, and those coming on the cruise tied up traffic and it was two or three cars deep. We had pre-paid for van pick-up and he had a hard time even finding us. He went around the terminal 3 times before he could find a spot to park to pick us and our luggage up. Then the traffic to JFK on a Friday (I believe) was bumper to bumper. It would really be helpful if they separated the incoming/outgoing passengers, I think things would run more smoothly. So just be prepared for anything, and go with the flow. Don't get upset or riled by delays. You might also want to be sure your cell phone is charged and usable, as there are no pay phones at the terminal. I was told there were no restrooms (by a worker), only to find on CC that there are indeed restrooms. But it definitely isn't your usual cruiseship terminal. esbie11 Posted March 6, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2009 We have a big passenger van that will be taking us from Country Inn & Suites to the cruiseport. It is picking us up at the hotel at 10:30am, and we are charged hourly. What are the odds of getting from the hotel to the luggage drop off area in 1 hour?
