escentialssoycandles Posted February 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2009 We are taking the Sensation out of Pt.Canaveral on 4/30 for a 3 Night Bahamas. I have only ever sailed RCC. I have heard this ship has been refurbed....what did they do other than add balconies? Any refurb inside? Also what is the food like? Any other comments or suggestions? It is 3 adult couples going, 2 have never cruised before.
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Have you checked out Sensation on the Carnival website? http://www.carnival.com/cms/fun/ships/carnival_sensation/default.aspx?shipCode=SE Usually, they replace carpeting, upholstery, linens, mattresses...who knows. She's just back inservice, so no reviews yet. EM
lollylew Posted February 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I sailed on the Sensation back in December before her DD. I really enjoyed the food on the Lido deck (which was sort of surprising) and the service in the main dining rooms was great! I don't know what type of stateroom you are staying in but we stayed in an OV on the Riviera deck and the room was nice. I have seen some pictures of what the new balconies look like from the outside but I haven't seen any inside pics yet.
ksflann Posted February 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2009 We just arrived home today after the three night cruise. We were on the same cruise a year ago so I can tell you that the rooms are completely redone and really nice. They have solved the shower flooding the bathroom issue and the shower was great. The sink has so much pressure when my husband pushed the handle up the water shot out of the sink! They added a water slide up on the top deck for the kids. The casino has been rearranged and it seems like there are less machines. We saw a lot of people winning pretty good (over $1000) the night we were in Nassau. The adult comedy show was really funny. Both of the shows with the dancers were also good. The food in the dining room was very very good. The lunch Lido deck food was average. I suggest the hamburgers being grilled or the fresh made sandwiches in the back of the buffet. Also order from room service the chicken fajita wrap it is really good. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.

We have been going crazy here waiting for some reviews after the refurbishment, and everyone is terribly curious about the new balconies, me being one :) Kids are very excited to see the new water park as they loved Inspiration back in 2002! Any other details and photos you could share would be wonderful and much appreciated!! :D
ksflann Posted February 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2009 The shows were Far from Over the first night, A juggling act the second night and Curves the third night. All the shows were really good. The water park is great for kids. I didn't take a camera since we had been on this cruise before so I can't help with that. We didn't have a balcony just an oceanview. Up close the balconies don't look bad. They seem pretty small. I will answer any other questions you have if I can. I know I read everything I could before we left even though we had cruised many times before. I did get a letter from the casino host giving me a free drink and 500 points on my card when I registered online saying I was cruising again. I only peeked at mine, and found a letter but didn't read it yet! Did you check out the new adults only serenity area? Is there any pool or hot tub for the adults to enjoy? What did you do in Nassau? We have only done 7 day Western and Eastern itineraries, and are very curious what we will think of this 3 dayer, lol!
bobsfamily Posted February 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2009 We did the same trip last march... it's a short getaway and nice. Our food in the dining room was not that great but the cruise was great. We loved the time in port. I would like to see the new Sensation. Take pics! StlCardsFan Posted February 23, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I just got back from the 3 day to Nassau yesterday, having been on the Sensation previously, I can tell the ship is much improved. The food in the dining room and Seaview Grill and Lido deck has improved greatly. The entire Lido has been redone with numerous "fake" palm tree's and tiki type decorations, the floor on the Lido deck has been replaced along with all of the deck chairs. The rooms have also been entirely remodeled, gone are the orange walls and out of date bathrooms, the walls now have wood coverings and the bathroom's have better drains and new sinks and toliets. The adults only area, has 2 jacuzzi's and lots of new deck chairs. The sewage smell is still there but overall this ship is vastly improved and is perfect for the long weekend. I also thought Nassau has been cleaned up. I have some pictures of the ship, just don't have them off the camera yet.
