Your Own Computer on ship

We always take our laptop, but there won't be WiFi in the cabin (at least not on the Princess ships we've been on - you usually need to go to a common area). In our experience, the lobby is the best spot. You might want to post this over on the Princess board because the folks there can give you a little more details as the Ruby is brand new.

Just make sure that you logoff with the ship's logoff code (I seem to recall that you had to type http//1.1.1.1 or something like that in the address bar) or else you will continue to be charged for minutes if you do not turn your computer off. We burned through three packages before we discovered this. We actually got wireless internet in our cabin on the Grand Princess last summer and you may also get it on the Ruby Princess since it is a new ship. Princess is expanding it to be in cabin on all of their ships but it is being done gradually. I know I have seen reports of it being in cabin on the Island Princess, which I will be sailing in June.

It's funny how much people have gotten used to free wi-fi ... on numerous cruises I see people's faces light up when they see somone connecting with a laptop and have even heard the comment several times ... next time we'll bring one and not have to pay those huge fees. ;)

My DS used his laptop in his cabin for wifi on Ruby in January. We were even able to log on using my free Platinum internet usage:D
