Thought I had decided Wyndham over Cabbage...now??

i was in nassau this past saturday, and after lurking on this board for a few months my boyfriend and I decided to go to cabbage beach instead of spending the money for a resort. We had SUCH a good time! the water was amazing and it wasnt too crowded until we left (around 3). We got the coconut drinks from the locals. It was $20 for 5 drinks, they make them as strong as youd like and they were very good, they had pina coladas (seriously the best ive ever had, i want the recipe), bahama mamas and yellow birds. We skipped the chairs and just layed on our towels. It was extremely relaxing and a great way to spend the day. We took the water taxi over and it was overly crowded and took forever, so opted for a cabride back for $4 pp. It was well worth it to take the cab, cheap and fast. i highly recommend this beach

I'm debating on going to Cabbage or paying for a resort (Breezes, day room at Sheraton, or BCH).

My only concern is NO RESTROOM! Has that been a problem for anyone who's gone to Cabbage beach??

THANKS for anyone's input in advance :)

We went to the Sheraton last week on our cruise, and I am so glad that we rented the room here instead of going to the wyndham for the day.....

We got a day room for $99 for four people (kids are both under 12). The room was on the ground level and about ten steps from the pool. The sheraton actually has about four pools with waterfalls, and a zero entry area. We had lunch right on the beach, and a very relaxing day.

Taking the #10 jitney was a piece of cake. We walked a couple of blocks, and then it took about 15-20 minutes to get to Cable Beach. The stop is right in front of the hotel. It was $5 for the four of us.

When you say you had lunch on the beach - did you buy it from a restaurant, the Sheraton, bring it (I know your not supposed to bring anything off the boat), or is it included in the day pass??\

TIA!

I booked the ship excursion to Sheraton Beach, I do get lunch and transportation but thats it. If I book a day room (this is where I am confused) is this through Sheraton? and how close is the room usually to the beach. I booked my excursion through NCL and it is costing me $95.00 pp. What do I get with the day room, that I am not getting booking thorugh the ship. If it is better to book through Sheraton, I am hoping I can get a refund with NCL

Thank You

Dorene

I booked through Sheraton's 866 number for next week. For $149 we reserved a day room and lunch for two. The big difference is your on your own for transportation and for us the kids will only cost the jitney ride and lunch at the Sheraton. Which is far less than $95pp.:)

Is cabbage beach near the atlantis? Is it possible to stay at cabbage beach (free) for a few hours and then walk to atlantis to use bathroom and look at hotel property?

Yes, the Atlantis is next to the RUI (which is where the pathway to the public beach is.,

However, Atlantis has built it's convention center so that it blocks the roadway that once went directly to the beach. So now you have to walk (or cab) about 3 blocks going around the conventions center and Comfort Suites to get to the Atlantis.

There are signs, but it's not an easy walk just to hit a restroom or grab a bite to eat.

The best way is by cab. it's $4/5 pp.

THere are NO bathrooms, it's a 10 minute walk back to the nearest bathroom and / or eating establishment. You used to be able to walk out the Beach Tower Lobby at Atlantis to the public beach, but it is blocked off. You have to walk the 3-4 blocks around the roadway back to Atlantis.

Atlantis doesn't make anything easy for folks not paying to use their facilites.

If you are one who NEEDS a bathroom, then a public beach is not gonna fit the bill. You'll need to pay to go to the hotel beach. Sheraton and Wyndham are very nice and relatively cheap.

There's tons of great post on both of these properties.

This is really helpful. I've been to Wyndham a few times and liked it. I am taking my sister and 3 teenaged boys.

If the beaches are both pretty, it seems like maybe Wyndham would be better it just appears to me that Cabbage has a far prettier beach.

I think my sister would NOT like all of the selling on the beach...and, to be frank, I don't love the idea of access to anything illegal for the teens.

Since they will be legal to gamble and that's big for them, I guess I'll stick with Wyndham so that they can hit the casino.

Really!? Teens in the casino at the Wyndham?? I have 13 and 16 year old and were going to be at the Sheraton next door, this Friday. What ages are allowed? They would really be excited to go through and play a few slots (just for the novelty of it).

Gambling age is 18/ It's supposed to be strictly enforced, but some days not so much. Of course, there are cameras everywhere, so if your under 18 kids hit the jackpot, you're out of luck.
