Barcelona port to airport

My friend will be sailing on the MSC Fantasia from Barcelona in Oct. Is it reasonable to

book a noon flight back to the USA? Thank you!

Two different answers to this question:

 

1) No, It is unreasonable to be in Barcelona and not take several days to enjoy this great city.

 

2) yes, assuming the ship docks at a "normal" time. The airport is quite close (<30 minutes away).

But you need to take time in Barcelona before and after a cruise. It just deserves it. :D

The ride's about 20-25 minutes. One thing to consider, when going from the cruise terminal to the airport, is the line to get a taxi. The later you disembark the ship, the longer the line will be.

 

There are plenty of taxis ready to take you away, but just progressing through the line is worth factoring in.

Thanks for all of the responses. My friend decided to book the noon flight after disembarking. She is flying to Barcelona the day before the cruise, so she will get to spend some time there. I appreciate all of the advice.

I'm sailing on the Brilliance of the Seas and the cruise itinerary states that the ship gets back into the port on 5 am on disembarkation day. Does that mean that you can actually start exiting the ship that early? If so, is a 10am flight back to the states too early? My main concern is the dismebarkation time, it states 5 am but I wonder if people are actually allowed to leave that early.

NO!!!

 

Have you seen that MSC FANTASIA arrives at 09.00 hrs in Barcelona???

 

All other cruise ships arrive between 05.00 hrs and 07.00 hrs.

 

But with 09.00 hrs it will be possible but somehow hard to get right on time for a noon time to the airport.

 

I was sailing on MSC FANTASIA and it took some time before the first got from the ship to collect their bags.

 

For an US-Flight at noon I would be at least 10.15 hrs at the airport.

I hear so many say this , so what I did was paid to be taken from the ship to the airport by bus, celebrity has it right on the tour page to me $30.00 was worth it ahhaahahah I think its the only time I didn't look for cheaper way!

We're due to arrive Barcelona 6:00 a.m.

I booked our flights out of Barcelona for 10:30 a.m.

 

Can we get off the ship by 8:00 a.m., to our car serrvice (I plan to arrange ahead of time), to be at the airport 8:30-ish? assuming we must be there 2 hrs before the flight. How long does it take to clear the ship and allow passengers to get off. We'll be up and ready to go at 6:00.

Depends on which line you are on.

 

Like us on RCI: we arrived by 5.00 am and the first group went from the ship 6.30 am... (Self-debarkation).

2. In the Drassanes stopped of underground sick leave in the stop of Passeig de Gracia. See once in the station of Renfe there. Go to Platform 1.

The destination train is Aeroport

(Price: 2.40€ for person.)

(Price: t-10 a ticket on 10 journeys is 7.70€)

B) To Bus Aerobus (A1)

1. When you go out from the port, go to the Maremagnum, shopping center, go to the Ramblas in the Drassanes stopped of underground.

2. In the Drassanes stopped of underground sick leave in the stop of Catalunya. See once in the station of Bus (Aerobus) there destination airport

 

Price: 1,20 underground + ticket bus 4,25 à 5,45€ for person. I do not remember myself if it serves the t-10 (a ticket on 10 journeys 7.70€) for the aerobus.

Would it not be much more easier to go from

 

Drassenes

to

Sants Station

 

1. it's already in the direction of the airport commuters

2. it's an easy transfer

 

and the actual prices:

 

1.35 EUR for single ride on metro.

1.35 EUR more for the single ride on commuter train to the airport.

 

5.00 EUR for the Aerobus A1 to Terminal 1

A taxi is between 25 EUR and 40 EUR depends to size, number of bags, day of travel, time of travel... If you are not travelling alone it's quite ok and you are there in 25 minutes (if traffic permits) without stress of changing twice.

to

Sants Station

 

1. it's already in the direction of the airport commuters

2. it's an easy transfer

About Drassanes to Sants Station, yes I thing it, but in Passeig de Gracia there are only 2 platforms and is easier, before one for each meaning however in Sants there is 14 platforms. The train before arriving to Sants goes across Passeig de Gracia, in this way the train is emptier and you can choose sitting. For this motive I said Passeig de Gracia station.

And about the prices the ticket single ride on metro (1.35) is only for underground and the ticket can be used the bus, the train by the underground.

I am booking a med cruise for sept 2010, and right now have a choice between embarking at Barcelona, Rome or Venice. Am I right in thinking Barcelona will be the easiest and cheapest? Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated, as all my cruising experience is in the Caribbean.
