BocaRoo Posted August 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2009 Whenever we cruise, we take a 12-pocket shoe holder and hang it on the inside of the bathroom door to hold the majority of our toiletries. Does anyone who has cruised on the Solstice or Equinox know if the bathroom doors are similar, or the same as on the M-Class ships, with the 4 knobs at the top of the inside of the door? Thank you in advance for any replies :) ! Jill

alfiemom Posted August 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2009 There's quite a bit of storage space in the bathrooms. Really. You may not even need it. Bobbie
Cruisenouvelle Posted August 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2009 I agree w/ alfiemom. There's a vertical storage area (w/ several shelves of varying heights and a glass door) that holds quite a lot of toiletries, makeup, etc. - plus the countertop space. we used the over the door shoe holder on our first cruise, and haven't needed it since. Have a wonderful cruise!

Have a wonderful cruise! Also had 2 drawers which came in very handy , in addition to the shelves behind the glass doors. Even more below that tower- 2 more cubbies with a door . Bathroom was so well designed - except that dang toilet paper holder! Does anyone know if they changed that on the Equinox?

Just going through my pics from Equinox now to see what bathroom pics I have...though got funny feeling I didnt take one of the glass doors/shelves. Link in my sig for anyone interested...some "different" pics in my collection..example being you can see what I saw when on balcony and looking down etc....cabin 7183. Rare hcat Posted August 9, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2009 There are so many cubbies in the bathroom (since they took so much space from the closet) that you could not possibly fill them all--no need for the shoe bag... when I saw the storgae space, I thought the elite panel of women that they used must travel with a lifetime of cosmetics...... too bad they didn't thnk of a line in the shower for hanging wet swimsuits! other than that I am a huge fan of the s class ships... Waterlily777 Posted August 10, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2009 From another post, here are some detailed pictures of the storage in the bathrooms on Solstice: http://leftcoasters.smugmug.com/gallery/7051726_Pzoiv#451755551_k4ukw
WELSH WIZARDS Posted August 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Hi Miamiroo...we have been on the Solstice and the Eclipse and used our shoe holder on the back of the bathroom door as you do. There is quite a lot of space in the bathroom, but the shoe holder is still extra , and always seems to get filled with something. :D
BocaRoo Posted August 10, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Thank you all for your replies and photos! Is it correct to assume that the number of drawers, etc. in Aquaclass cabins is the same in all the other cabins, specifically the Concierge Class? The AQ bath looks great and there does seem to be more storage space than on the M-Class baths. We're on the Equinox TA in November and every ounce of weight counts. Kevin LOVES that shoe pocket thing and I want to convince him not to take it on this trip... Jennie & alfiemom ~ Looking forward to seeing you in November :D !! It's finally getting closer !! :)
chessbriar Posted August 10, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Hey Jill, One thing to consider is the way the bathroom door opens. When we did our Solstice cruise in January, our bathroom door opened so when you walked out of the bathroom you were between the outside door and bathroom door and had to close the bathroom door first before walking into the room. With something hanging on the door it could be tight. How are you two doing?
BocaRoo Posted August 10, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted August 10, 2009 We're fine! How are you, Kathy & Nicole??? We need to cruise together again :) ! Thanks for the hint about the way the door opens! Sometimes we have found there's a "traffic jam" when getting ready with closet/bathroom doors in the M-Class cabins... This will be our first S-Class cruise and we can't wait to try out a new ship! Please say Hi to Kathy! Jill
chessbriar Posted August 10, 2009 #13 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Nikki is growing fast and keeping us busy. She's already and avid cruiser. 3.5 years old and has been at sea for 37 days over 5 cruises with three more booked. She just loves it. We're sailing on Ruby Princess in November, Disney Wonder in March, and if you are up for a longer cruise Connie Novmeber 20 2010. Yes, we'd love you see you two again. Sometimes it's just tough to work out everyone's schedule. The traffic jam at the bathroom could be tricky if you get a cabin with one of those backwards bathroom doors. But the vanity is great if all you need from the bathroom is a mirror or a hairdryer. The activity staff you will have on board will be the same ones we had on the Solstice. A good lively bunch. You will have 2 dancers and one specialist for the production shows, they are fantastic. The maritini bar was a little small, but they had enough venues to spread out the evening crowd. They had a ton of live music each night.

Spectrum Posted August 10, 2009 #15 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Correct , there are two knobs at the back of the door BUT there is plenty of room for all bathroom essentials and medication - no need to take a holder I can assure you.
WELSH WIZARDS Posted August 10, 2009 #16 Share Posted August 10, 2009 On the other hand there is no need to put bathroom items in it just because its hanging on the bathroom door. ;):D We put all sorts of loose stuff in it.
Mombak Posted August 10, 2009 #17 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Nikki is growing fast and keeping us busy. She's already and avid cruiser. 3.5 years old and has been at sea for 37 days over 5 cruises with three more booked. We'll be taking our 3 year old daughter on the November Solstice TransAtlantic Cruise. It's going to be the first cruise for all three of us (can you say "excited?":D). Do you have any tips for cruising with a three year old? We're hoping there's enough for her to do -- or that she'll be interested in SOME of what Mommy and Daddy (and her grandparents) want to do... We've been teaching her about some of the things we'll be seeing in ports. She's very excited to see the Leaning Tower of "Pizza." I think the Colisseum will be a big hit too. Thanks for any suggestions!
BocaRoo Posted August 11, 2009 Author #18 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Thank you, everyone! Kevin is completely convinced that we don't need the hanging shoe organizer! Of course you know what this means - more room to pack shoes!!! :D Jill

We've been teaching her about some of the things we'll be seeing in ports. She's very excited to see the Leaning Tower of "Pizza." I think the Colisseum will be a big hit too. Thanks for any suggestions! Our daughter has been cruising since she was 18 months. She just loves it. We have a very basic routine for days at sea. Wake up breakfast, then spend the next 3-4 hours playing(whether it's putting her in the kids club, walking the ship, or swimming), do lunch, she and I nap, then 1-2 of playing(same things). On her first 3 cruises she could not do the pool as she was still in diapers. It was a good incentive to get her potty trained(she wanted to swim). They kids club we have starting breaking her into it the last 3 cruises. Part of that is not wanting to give her up. We use a stroller for boarding and walking around town. Otherwise we let her run. She is used to eating out, so dinners are not a problem. And she loves the production shows. I think cruises for kids is great because it exposes them to so much. They just absorb all they see and it helps them to learn the proper ways to behave in public. It helps her with person interaction with both other kids and adults. She knows when to play shy and when to schmooze the staff. Bring a few toys, but know too many. We never really spend enough time in the room for her to play with them. They are good to fill time why you prepare for dinner. Keep in mind you will have a shower and not a bathtub. Since you will be on Equinox, the shower head is attached, no hand held head. If you think you can work with one of the plastic cups to wet and rinse the little one, fine. Otherwise it can't hurt to bring a larger cup. We started working with out little on using a shower, just to make it easier. It's a little unnerving to have water pouring down like that. We did not request a crib or use the pull out bed. It was easier to have the cabin attendant make up the sofa. The back cushions are not attached, so we pulled them down and stood them on end, then used the table to hold them in place. It kept and open walkway in the cabin. Any specific question, please ask. I know I was nervous our first cruise with her. Now, she gets more excited about out next cruise than we do.
