Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No. Tips are included. If you upgrade to premium, 20% gratuity is added to upgrade price. If you have classic and purchase a drink over the $10 limit, you will pay difference + 20%. Extra tipping is optional.
  2. We had Celebrity transfer for flights after 10 am. We had 10.40 flight to LHR. Got to airport at 8am but check in was a nightmare- 1.5 hours! We made our flight but we were not able to get breakfast! In hindsight, a later flight would have been better - after noon.
  3. Pelegríno or Perrier is not included in classic package. We were offered club soda as well. There was not a problem getting wine at the same time - I think that the one drink at a time applies to alcohol only.
  4. There is no logic in the pricing of beer. The wholesale cost of the “upscale” beers are similar and certainly doesn’t justify the additional cost. The beers priced at $11 could easily be included in classic package. I think that Celebrity should have a package that includes beers wines martinis and spirits that excludes genuine upscale drinks.
  5. If you are docked, you will need to get a coach transfer which Celebrity will provide. The ship will be berthed next to the main ferry terminal. As mentioned in last post there is a ferry to get you. Jim
  6. Why do you need to tip someone opening a bottle of beer or pouring a glass of wine on a cruise ship. You have already paid an extra 20%. It is all part of their job!
  7. Probably is a glitch. I usually use website and use the app for final health checks the day before sailing. I have found the app to be glitchy. Try again on the 20th and if still a problem, contact Celebrity
  8. Have you not checked in yet? You can check in several weeks in advance. The earlier you check in, the better / earlier time slot you will be allocated. Latest time is 48 hours before cruise. Have you looked at your booking on Celebrity’s website.
  9. We stayed in the Piraeus City Hotel. Centrally located in Piraeus close to the port. Also five minutes walk to metro line which provides good link to Athens especially if you wish visit the Acropolis. Suggest you have a look on website ps it is about an hours transfer by taxi from the Airport. There is also a direct metro link.
  10. Really? The best time to see the waterfalls is May and June when the water flow will be best. Typical temperature in June is 20c.
  11. In 2020, the Celebrity Summit was scheduled to sail from Cape liberty to Dublin with port calls in Nova Scotia, Greenland and Iceland with a return journey to Boston. In 2021, same ship was on similar journey but finishing in Southampton. Unfortunately, both these cruises were cancelled because of Covid. Unfortunately those itineraries were not rescheduled but the subsequent cruise from 2022 only went to Iceland before returning to Boston. very disappointing as we were booked on the 2020 cruise.
  12. Vat is NOT included in the price of drinks. What you see is the cost inclusive of the 20% gratuity. So the upper limits are $12 and $20. Elsewhere the cost is $10 +20% and $17 + 20%. Any up charges will be the same - only difference is that the gratuity is included rather than shown separately.
  13. CruiseMapper app appears to show that the Silhouette has now left Lisbon.
  14. It is interesting to see what beers and wines are included in the classic and premium packages. From my point of view, there is no logic in the selection of what is considered classic or premium. For example, Villa Marie Sauvignon Blanc is any everyday drinking wine which is one of our preferred wines but I would not consider it premium. Our local supermarket sells this for around £8/9. How do you define premium drinks? Also why is Blue Moon beer considered to be Premium. At the end of the day, why not have one category and be prepared to pay extra for genuine premium drinks. For example an 18 Year old MacAllan or top notch Champagne?
  15. I have not seen MacAllan 12 or 18 year old on any recent cruise. Non age statement Quest and Lumina are readily available. Aberfeldy and Highland park 12 year old also readily available. Like Macallan, travel trade versions of Glenlivet and Glenfiddich are also available.
