We have the ex-Lord Mayor living in our street but he says that it is a conflict of interest for him so he can't get involved.

Same cul-de-sac. We are in the worst position because it is L shaped and we are in the corner of the L so the side of the house involved is next to our front garden. There is currently a 12 ft high conifer hedge inside their garden but the plans show that it will be removed so that they can put a path between the extrension and our 6ft high fence. The people in the house in the street below us have told DH that they have also filled in the form to the council because it will affect their privacy too.

The postman delivered bad news this morning in the form of a notification of change in use for the neighbouring 5 bedroom house that was sold in February. The owners (not yet moved in) have applied for planning permission to extend it for use as a care home. We now have to fill in a form online to explain our objections to the plan. The people next to us are furious because they think that the extension will mean that the new people will be able to see into their bedroom. For us it means that our previously very private garden will be visible to the new people so no more nude sunbathing 🤣 I have just filled out the objection form on the council site but I doubt that it will make a difference. DH thinks that we should put our bungalow up for sale and move out of the area so he is now busy looking at estate agents and has already arranged for 2 agents to come and give us valuations next week. 🤔

It's a lovely sunny morning again here but it is only 16° and the forecast is for clouds and and a chance of rain this afternoon so all outside jobs will have to be done this morning. I missed the Northern Lights yet again because I fell asleep reading my book and when I woke up I forgot about the lights and just went to bed. Have a good day whatever you have planned.

I just got back from bowling, it was 23° on the green so very warm. We had to park on the road because the club had rented the carpark out for some sort of event that involved loud music which would have been ok if they hadn't had people singing karaoke between playing the music. I wasa Gloria Gaynor fan but really don't want to hear "I Will Survive" ever again. We had a great game to consolidate our position at the top of the league we won 186 to 97. i plan to look for the Northern Lights tonight if I can stay awake. Have a good evening whatever your plans are.

A beautiful sunny morning here already 17° and forecast to get up to 22° this afternoon so I won't need to take my jacket for bowling this afternoon. We are playing at home today I will probably walk down to the club as it is only just under 2 miles away though it is all uphill coming home.

Beautiful photos. I met up with a friend for an early coffee this morning and she showed me some pics that she took last night about 2 miles from us and told me that she had taken looking in our direction but I forgot all about them and went to bed early so didn't get to see them. I have just heard that they could be visible again tonight do hopefully we will get to see them tonight. We have done 2 Northern Lights cruises and not seen them so I have set an alarm on my phone to remind me tonight 🤞🤞

We did a cruise that went into Kirkwall on our first round Britain cruise and DH wanted to go to the Highland Park distillery so we went and even though I am not a whisky drinker I found it interesting. We were given a small sample to try so poor DH had to force himself to drink mine. It was his first time of trying Highland Park but it is now his preferred whisky if he has to buy whisky now.

I just arrived home from the school run and found a text from our ladies bowling captain to tell the team that the husband of one of our team has passed away this morning.

When we were out for lunch today my sister came into the same restaurant with 2 of her friends, as we were leaving I went over to have a word with them, the lady who I had never met before turned to my sister and said " I thought that your sister was older than you " she doesn’t look older, the other friend who I have known since my sister went to live near to her when their children were babies laughed and said "That's what happens when you let your children spend a lot of time with family members who wind them into a frenzy before handing them back to you". The joys of having no children but still having some in your life. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Our roses have buds but no flowers yet. The rhododendrons and hydrangeas also have a few buds and the peonies have plenty of buds. I don't like this change from spring to summer because thd bulbs have died off but the summer flowers are not quite here.

Our 1st cruise was on Carnival Holiday in 1983. She last sailed in 2020 as the Magallen, I don't know where she was between Carnival and CMV before she was scrapped in 2021. I only know about the CMV life because a friend should have sailed on her but the cruise was cancelled for some reason. I miss the old sailaways with the bands. The most memorable one that I remember was for Britannia's maiden voyage.

As non-smokers we avoid any of the smoking areas on any ship that we sail on. I think that the first cruise line to bite the bullet and designate a ship to be non-smoking will be inundated with interested passengers. The last P&O cruise that we were on there were heavy smokers in the cabin next to us and they made the balcony unusable for us because the smoke drifted over the balcony separators.
