robinsra Posted July 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2012 I'm sure this question is asked all the time but I can't find it. We are leaving out of Cape Liberty,on the Summit, will we see the Statue of Liberty and if yes what side of the ship? Thanks
Langley Cruisers Posted July 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2012 We are leaving out of Cape Liberty,on the Summit, will we see the Statue of Liberty and if yes what side of the ship? You will see her on the port (left) side in the distance. It's not a close sail-by by any means but you will see her. .
GoochDSA Posted July 30, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2012 You will see her on the port (left) side in the distance. It's not a close sail-by by any means but you will see her.. As the PP said, you can see her on the port side as you are pulling out of Bayonne, but it won't be up close. Cape Liberty is actually South of the Statue of Liberty unlike the terminal in NYC which is North of her (when leaving out of Manhattan you do the full sail-by). njhorseman Posted July 30, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2012 Yes, you will see the Statue of Liberty a couple of miles away off the port side of the ship, but you will not sail by her as you would if the cruise departed from Manhattan. The closest you'll get to the Statue of Liberty will be while your ship is docked at Cape Liberty and just as it is departing the pier. After that you'll be moving further away from the statue. njhorseman Posted August 6, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2012 You won't need them.... If they a decent view of the SOL from Cape Liberty they will need binoculars. You can't see any details and it looks like a toy statue from a couple of miles away...not the impressive structure it really is.
