sfBRAD Posted May 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2013 Am thinking of giving up my aft balcony for a mini suite with large balcony. There are a ton of M6s available, any reason for that? Being on a lower deck? I can't see anything wrong with them ...
Want2Cruise Posted May 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2013 Maybe the lack of privacy? From the upper decks you can see down onto the balcony. Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
joeski27 Posted May 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) Maybe the lack of privacy? From the upper decks you can see down onto the balcony. Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk 2 That is assuming that those above really want to look down at you, and I my case I couldn't care less. And in all honesty, you should think of it this way: if they are looking down at you, its a guarantee that those poor saps up in the tiny balcony staterooms will be looking down in in both frustration and envy as you stretch out in the sun on your huuuuge M6 balcony, while they struggle to find away just to sit and extend their legs . But one other factor should be figured in as well, and that is ship location. With the M6's in particular, you find yourself in what is an absolutely unbeatable location - Deck 8, right down the hall from the middle of the action (restaurants, bars, shopping, casino, and on the same deck as the Waterfront!), yet also at the end of the deck 8 hallway where there will be very minimal foot traffic past your cabin. After doing loads of research before our M6 booking, I came the very undeniable conclusion that this spot cannot be beat. I say go for it! Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk 2 More than half of the 13 feet depth of the balcony is covered, and completely 'private' . If you want to sunbathe and move out to the end, then yes, you are visible, but no more so than if you were on the sun decks, yet you have the convenience of being only steps away from your own cabin. And ditto everything Joeski states about location. I agree, go for the M6
HighVoltage#9 Posted May 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2013 I'm in a M6 in two weeks?I plan on doing a cabin crawl to check out the different rooms.I will let you know what I think.I think the M6's will be the cabins to get if you can't find any open deck space by the pools with 4k people onboard.Time will tell:DYou really can't go wrong with either one, your on vacation! We had an MA on Deck 14 and after seeing all the pictures of the balconies, we switched our cabin to deck 8 M6. My DH loves sitting there and watching the ocean. Can't wait for our 6/16/13 sailing! Bobbye Posted May 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2013 I'm not sure I agree with you. On one cruise our balcony was not totally covered and in the morning we'd come out to a lot of garage, including cigarette butts, on our balcony. Add to that hats, a few t-shirts, etc. The kids enjoyed going out each day to see what items were there but I wasn't amused with the trash. (This was Royal, not Norwegian.) My balcony from the Gem 2 years ago had a sofa seating area. (I tried to upload a pic, but upload kept failing:( ). It looked really nice. I think you should go for it :p:p Just think of the money you'll save on souvenirs:p And ship laundry service :D
mtsnd1900 Posted May 14, 2013 #17 Share Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) Take a look at these pictures of aft balcony rooms on deck 12. One is standard, on is HC. Very deep, 3/4 covered, can put a lounge chair out there they are so big! On the transatlantic initially, there were no loungers in these cabins, good to see they were brought down from the pool deck. Looks like I won't have to carry any down myself! This is my parent's cabin Deck 12 HC B1, we have the cabin next door to them. So excited, glad we moved from the teeny BC balcony!

Red-Sol Posted May 15, 2013 #22 Share Posted May 15, 2013 I don't think you will be disappointed with most aft B1 balcony sizes and definitely not with the M6 balconies either. One thing to consider though is at most times I believe the views will be better from aft B1 balconies IMHO
