Casino Player Posted June 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2012 Red or Black you decide HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO BIGDADDY2587: Either bet is a bad bet. Here is why, regardless of which bet you make you have 18 chances to win and 20 chances to lose. However, should you win you are getting back only even money. You can decide if that is a good bet. There is a better bet. Go the the Craps table. Bet on the Pass Line. That is an even money bet. Once a point number is established you could make an associated bet with your Pass Line bet. It is called an odds bet. That bet is one of the few bets in the casino that actually pays true odds. You can decide if that is a better bet or not. Gig103 Posted June 17, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2012 17% odds against ya at the table. House advantage is 5.26% (per Wizard of Odds). That's still horrible compared to 1.4% on the pass line, 0% on the odds! :D

That's still horrible compared to 1.4% on the pass line, 0% on the odds! :D HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Gig103: In actuality when you take odds in craps the House edge slips. If you play the Pass Line and take odds the House edge is actually less than 1%. This information comes from Sharpshooter.

4hunters Posted June 20, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2012 I have never played craps and really don't understand it. What does the pass line mean? Thanks! The pass line is one of the primary bets most of us craps shooters play. There are about a million beats (almost, haha) on a craps layout, but only a few are actually a good bet for the player (low house edge). getaway101 Posted June 23, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 23, 2012 Craps actually has the best odds in the house. Just wish I was brave enough to bet more than the pass line. MrCo9 Posted June 25, 2012 #12 Share Posted June 25, 2012 Hi Chicken. Pass Line is where 95% of craps players make the most basic of bets. When there is no point, you are "Coming out" (looking for a point number 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) to be rolled. Until one of those numbers is rolled you win if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 (8 combinations), you lose if a 2, 3 0r 12 (4 combinations) is rolled. Once the shooter rolls a point number ( 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) you win if that number is repeated, you lose if a 7 is rolled. See, simple. The odds are based on how many ways the point number can be rolled versus the 6 ways a 7 can be rolled. There are 5 ways to roll a 6 or 8, so, the odds pay 6:5. There are 4 ways to roll a 5 or 9, so, the odds pay 6:4 or 3:2. There are 3 ways to roll a 4 or 10, so, the odds pay 6:3 or 2:1.

I roll and see everyone making money on my roll........just call me chicken:rolleyes: HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO getaway101: What MrCo9 says is true. After a point is established and you wish to make more bets then you can make what is called a Come Bet. A Come Bet acts like a Pass Line bet after a point is established. The Point is the number you are shooting for. If a seven or eleven is rolled you win even if other bets lose. If a craps 2,3,12 is rolled you lose your Come bet. If a 4,5,6,8,9, or 10 is rolled next that becomes your Come Point and the bet is like a Pass Line bet. You win if that number is rolled again or lose if seven is rolled first. You could take odds on your Come bets and they pay at true odds. Just like the Pass Line bets. There is one more type of bet you should be familiar with. It is called a Place Bet. After a Point is established you could place bets directly on numbers. Just throw the chips toward the center of the table and in an audible mumble mention the number you would like the bet on. It does not pay at true odds. The numbers 6 & 8 must be made in multiples of six. If a minimum bet is $10 then you must make $12 minimum bets. It pays back at 7-6. If you Place the 5 & 9 the bet must be in multiples of five. $5, $10, etc, etc... The 5 & 9 if your Place Bet wins pays off at 7-5. If you Place the 4 & 10, again in multiples of five, your return is 9-5.

jsmeeker Posted July 2, 2012 #17 Share Posted July 2, 2012 HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO jsmeeker: Putting your money on the yo is worse than putting it on the red or black. not if it hits!! 15-1, baby! They call it gambling for a reason. All the talk about expected house edge is over the LONG haul. A one off, one roll, one spin, one hand bet (what the OP seems to want) isn't the long haul. now, if you are talking about putting it on the yo over and over and over vs. red/black over and over and over, you are right.
