View Full Version : What the heck do those abbreviations mean? - A help thread for new users

Hi All,

In the interests of helping out people who are new to the boards, I thought it might be an idea to start a thread listing abbreviations which are commonly used by people posting. This would be a single place for people who run across a strange abbreviation to ask what it means, and it might also be a good place to post new abbreviations as they come up. If I miss any (more like whichever ones I miss) please feel free to make the necessary additions/deletions/corrections.

Some Commonly Used Abbreviations

1. Family

DH - Dear Husband, Darling Husband (etc)

DW - Dear Wife....

DD - Darling Daughter...

DS - Dear Son...

BIL - Brother in Law

SIL - Sister in Law

MIL - Mother in Law

FIL - Father in Law

2. Phrases

IMHO - In my humble opinion

JMHO - Just my humble opinion

LOL - Laughing out loud

ROTFL - Rolling on the floor laughing

ROTFLMAO - Rolling on the floor laughing my a$$ off

TTYL - Talk to you Later

TTFN - Ta Ta for now

Anyone else?

Sylia

Has anyone ever wondered why abbreviation is such a long word?
