Can you Floridians all please aim your fans out to sea today for us so we can get on the Caribbean Princess tomorrow? Maybe if everybody does it "Miss Jeanne" will stay out there a tiny bit longer!!! I think that's all we'll need to get on the ship!! Ha-Ha!!!

Mean Jeanne, Irritable Ivan, Ferocious Frances, Cranky Charlie ...... they've done a real number on Florida's tourism industry.

I've heard that since these storms, FL is not the fav retirement spot anymore --- Arizona is.

The cruise industry alone is going to suffer tremendously. What will that mean in the terms of prices (which were already out of sight for 2005)?

People are in shock everywhere this season, just as we Floridians are!!! :eek: But if people want to come to Florida, they will. Americans are a stubborn bunch!!!! :D

Even with all these storms, I would definitely book a cruise in September again. What are the chances of having another season like this?

Yes, I would agree. At this point we have been to most to islands so now we cruise for the ship, not the ports. That is why I won't mind being on the CP for 7 days. With all they have to offer, you can't get bored.

This info is being put out on weather alerts and weather channels. Tonight at sundown for 24 hours, is a Jewish holiday. They cannot look at tv or listen to radios. If jeanne should do something funny tomorrow, not expected, please make friends and neighbors that are Jewish aware of the changes. Thanks!!! :)

I heard that too. TV said that is why they started earlier with the alerts than they usually do.

Hey folks we are right here with you hoping and praying the storm turns hard right and heads north to sea. Still could happen. regarding cruise industry hurt by storms, article in the Tampa Tribune just this week on Carnival Corp. posting the strongest results in their history, this includes a pre charge for hurricane losses, so not to worry about the business, its as stong as ever.

Tropical Weather Update

September 24, 2004 - 10 a.m.

Royal Caribbean International continues to closely monitor Hurricane Jeanne to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises and to make certain our ships steer clear of any storms.

The safety and comfort of our guests are always the foremost concern of Royal Caribbean International. We are pleased to report that our ships in the Caribbean are sailing in calm seas and warm, sunny weather.

Based on Hurricane Jeanne's location and projected path, Royal Caribbean International is altering the itineraries of several ships. Itinerary changes are listed below. We will update this information three times daily, at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Royal Caribbean International is currently unable to bring ships to Coco Cay, Bahamas, our private island. Storm-related repairs are ongoing and should be complete in the coming weeks.

Additionally, storm recovery efforts in Freeport, Bahamas, and Georgetown, Cayman Islands, prevent us from visiting those ports. We look forward to returning to those locations in the very near future.

Ships scheduled to make port calls at these locations in the coming weeks will make alternative port calls or spend the day at sea.

UPDATED: Sovereign of the Seas, departing today on a three-night sailing, will not make its port call at Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday. Instead, the ship will make a port call in Miami, Florida, that day.

UPDATED: Mariner of the Seas, scheduled to depart Sunday on a seven-night sailing, may need to delay its return from its current sailing and delay its departure for its next sailing until Monday. This possibility is based on Hurricane Jeanne?s projected path, which may require Port Canaveral to be closed on Sunday. We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

UPDATED: Majesty of the Seas, departing today on a three-night sailing, will not make its port call at Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday. Instead, the ship will make a port call in Key West, Florida, that day.

UPDATED: Explorer of the Seas, currently on its September 19 sailing, will not make its port call at Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday. Instead, the ship will spend Saturday at sea.

UPDATED: Grandeur of the Seas, departing today on a nine-night sailing, will sail a revised itinerary. The ship will make port calls in King?s Wharf, Bermuda, on Sunday and Monday; Labadee, Hispaniola, on Wednesday; and Nassau, Bahamas, on Friday.

At this time, no Royal Caribbean International ships are being impacted by tropical weather. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and update this information at 3 p.m. today.

It looks like Jeanne intends on hitting everywhere -- is that Melbourne where she is making landfall? Then on up the FL east coast to Savannah, Charleston..... I wish she would stay out at sea!

West Palm Beach TV stations reporting possible landfall for Jeanne will be Sunday morning anywhere from Port St. Lucie to Vero Beach. It has taken a move to the west, but will brush the east coast south of those cities mentioned causing hurricane force winds on shore starting Saturday night. All is subject to change. At this moment they are predicting a low Cat 3. Port St. Lucie and Ft. Pierce took a beating from Frances...they sure don't need this. Prayers are in order, for sure!
