The U.S. Coast Guard has raised the Port Readiness to Condition Three (Port Condition X-RAY).

 

No operations are prohibited at this time.

 

It is anticipated that the USCG Captain of the Port will stop inbound ship traffic at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24. All ship traffic -- inbound and outbound -- is anticipated to stop as of 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. However, Port Everglades will remain open landside for vehicular traffic.

(9/24/04 2:20 PM EST) – Carnival is closely monitoring Hurricane Jeanne and all other weather conditions that could impact any of our sailings. The safety of our guests remains our number one priority.

 

Presently Hurricane Jeanne has impacted the following cruise:

 

The Carnival Triumph 7 day cruise scheduled to depart Saturday, September 25, 2004 has changed to a 5 day Western Caribbean cruise visiting Costa Maya/Cozumel departing on Monday, September 27, 2004. Guests booked on this sailing will receive 30% off of their cruise rate and $100 per person on board credit.

 

For guests that purchased independent air (not from Carnival) and sail on this new itinerary, we will reimburse up to $100 per person in costs related to air arrangement changes.

 

Please check this page periodically for itinerary change updates. You can also call 1-800-CARNIVAL or email booking related questions to hurricane@carnival.com. Please include your name and booking number in your email.

UPDATED: Sovereign of the Seas, departing today on a three-night sailing, will not make its port call at Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday. Instead, the ship will make a port call in Miami, Florida, that day.

 

 

UPDATED: Mariner of the Seas, scheduled to depart Sunday on a seven-night sailing, may need to delay its return from its current sailing and delay its departure for its next sailing until Monday. This possibility is based on Hurricane Jeanne's projected path, which may require Port Canaveral to be closed on Sunday. UPDATED: Explorer of the Seas, currently on its September 19 sailing, will not make its port call at Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday. Instead, the ship will spend Saturday at sea.

UPDATED: Grandeur of the Seas, departing today on a ten-night sailing, will sail a revised itinerary. The ship will make port calls in King's Wharf, Bermuda, on Sunday and Monday; Labadee, Hispaniola, on Wednesday; and Nassau, Bahamas, on Friday.

 

 

 

 

At this time, no Royal Caribbean International ships are being impacted by tropical weather. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and update this information at 3 p.m. today.

September 24, 2004, - 8:00 am, PDT

ms Zuiderdam cruise that departed September 18, 2004

 

Hurricane Jeanne continues to proceed in an erratic manner. In order to best protect the safety of our passengers, the ship will spend Friday, September 24, at sea far away from the storm.

 

Due to the erratic nature of the storm, the Coast Guard has announced that it may close Port Everglades either today or on Saturday. In that event, the end of the cruise, currently scheduled for Saturday morning, September 25th, will be delayed until the Coast Guard permits the ship to enter port. The ship will then remain at sea, again far from the storm. At this time, however, no final decision has been made to close Port Everglades. Consequently, the present schedule remains in place. Passengers on the ship are being kept advised of developments as they are occur.

 

The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority. We continue to monitor Jeanne and will post any additional changes that may become necessary. Please check this website regularly.

 

ms Zuiderdam Cruise Departing September 25

 

Since we expecct the ship to be able to enter Port Everglades on Saturday, the cruise departing September 25th will proceed on schedule. In that event, there will still be an itinerary change with the ship calling at San Juan, Puerto Rico instead of Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. Half Moon Cay has been cancelled due to the present location of Hurricane Jeanne.

 

If the ship's entry into Port Everglades is delayed, that will result in a delay in the beginning of the September 25th cruise and additional changes in the itinerary.

 

As of this time, however, Port Everglades remains open and airlines have not accounced flight cancellations. Consequently, the cruise is still scheduled to depart Port Everglades on September 25th as planned.

 

We will post another update by 1:00 pm (PDT) on this website or sooner if conditions warrant. We strongly suggest that passengers on the September 25th cruise continue to monitor this site.

Celebrity Cruises continues to closely monitor Hurricane Jeanne to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises and to make certain our ships steer clear of any storms.

 

The safety and comfort of our guests are always the foremost concern of Celebrity Cruises. We are pleased to report that our ships in the Caribbean are sailing in calm seas and warm, sunny weather.

 

Based on Hurricane Jeanne’s location and projected path, Celebrity Cruises is altering the itineraries of two ships. Itinerary changes are listed below. We will update this information three times daily, at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

 

Celebrity Cruises is currently unable to bring ships to Coco Cay, Bahamas, our private island. Storm-related repairs are ongoing and should be complete in the coming weeks.

 

Additionally, storm recovery efforts in Freeport, Bahamas, and Georgetown, Cayman Islands, prevent us from visiting those ports. We look forward to returning to those locations in the very near future.

 

Ships scheduled to make port calls at these locations in the coming weeks will make alternative port calls or spend the day at sea.

Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties - also hit hard by Frances on Sept. 5 - issued voluntary evacuations for more than 350,000 people living in barrier islands, low-lying areas and mobile homes Friday. Mandatory evacuations were expected Saturday morning.

Just saw on local tv in Fort Lauderdale that Port Everglades will close at 3a on

Sat. am and Port of Miami will close at 6 p. fri. nite. Since my daughter is onboard the Caribbean Princess I called Princess and they had not received any information. My daughter emailed this morning that they were skipping Nassau and were heading south but she was not aware that the Ports are closing. Unless something changes in the next couple of hours (with the 5P advisory) I doubt that the Caribbean will be in on Sat. morning. Princess website still not updated since yesterday. FLL and Palm Beach are getting crazy with people trying to again face yet another storm.

Hey -checking in from Jensen Beach - the next town to Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce - they are in dire straights up there - 93% of the schools had major damage from Frances and can't be used for shelters this time around. Civic Ctr has always been "special needs medical shelter" but has structural damage from Frances - no where for all those poor people to go - wish we could help - shelters here are open for business but so many people here are literally homeless from Frances that they can't take in anyone else. We all need to pray hard for all the people who are already hurting - never mind what is coming our way. Channel 5 out of West Palm still says it is going to smack here into the Treasure Coast again - we were so fortunate and only had cosmetic damage from Frances - will we be that lucky again? At least this one is moving faster and won't last 3 days. We have 6 people coming to stay with us.....a wee bit cozy again, but that's ok - they would help us out if we needed it. Y'all pray hard - this is just unbelievable - seems like I sat here and did this 2 weeks ago! HA! Y'all take care and let us know everyone is ok! Cindie

It sounds like the cruisers on Carib cruises now will have an extended cruise, and de ja vu for the ones waiting to embark also.

 

I feel for those people in Jensen Beach area, I wonder if they could travel a little way to a different area for shelter? From the point of lanfall north will have shelters open, I would imagine.

 

I've been here since 1977 -- that's 27 years -- and our area has never gotten hurricanes! But I'm learning fast...

Princess is currently re-booking air flights for those passengers who made their air arrangements through Princess. These new flights will be communicated to passengers onboard, once they are confirmed.

Princess is currently making every effort to advise all travel agents with passengers booked of the itinerary change, and advising them to re-schedule the air flights for those passengers who have made independent flight arrangements.

<LI>Passengers onboard Caribbean Princess will be able to use the internet and phone services, on a complimentary basis, to make alternate travel arrangements and to advise family members, as needed.

 

Caribbean Princess Voyage B440 -- Originally Scheduled to Depart on Saturday, September 25

 

Because of the delay returning to Port Everglades, this cruise is now scheduled to depart on Monday, September 27 at 10 pm.

<LI>As the ship's sailing schedule has been shortened by two days, the itinerary has been changed to a 5-day Western Caribbean route to provide passengers with the optimum port experience. I think with Frances we only went into tropical storm wind watch and that was *more* than enough for me. 90% of homes in my little county lost their power with tropical storm force winds....don't even want to think about hurricane force winds :(
