spintowin Posted July 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2014 What is the benefit of using choice air? Price is the same from LAX to IAH in Sept. Thanks!
Rare FlyerTalker Posted July 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Read the sticky at the top of the forum that discusses cruiseline air and what it really entails.
spintowin Posted July 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 9, 2014 If it was any more obvious, it would have bit me in the face. Thanks for pointing out sticky!
Clarea Posted July 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2014 What is the benefit of using choice air? Price is the same from LAX to IAH in Sept. Thanks! Choice Air is not competitive with purely domestic flights. They have much better prices for one-way overseas fights.
6rugrats Posted July 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2014 I can't think of any benefits. Would suggest you book this one directly with the airline.
Shak Posted July 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Not all delays are caused by the airlines. Cruise ships have been know to arrive early, later, or at different ports then anticipated due to weather or mechanical problems. Choice Air will reroute you if that happens. vjmatty Posted July 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2014 What is the benefit of using choice air? Price is the same from LAX to IAH in Sept. Thanks! The only benefit is that on one-way overseas flights needed for transatlantic and repositioning cruises, the fares can be a lot cheaper. However, due to the pitfalls listed in the sticky above, I only use it as a return flight following my cruise.
Algebralovr Posted July 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2014 We got a better price on an open jaw, where we embarked the ship in Venice and disembarked in Istanbul
greatam Posted July 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2014 We got a better price on an open jaw, where we embarked the ship in Venice and disembarked in Istanbul You got a better price because you got a ticket with all the downsides. You DID NOT get the same ticket with all the benefits you would have gotten direct from the airline. THAT is the trade off. And if you realize EXACTLY what you are buying and are prepared for any travel glitches, including missing your cruise at original embarkation, then fine. But too many people buy on price alone and do not realize they do not get all the benefits of an airline direct ticket. Then when a travel glitch occurs, they are totally unprepared and expect Choice Air to bail them out. As a general rule, ain't happening.
