Nassau - free wifi ?

I will be in Nassau from 7am-2pm on a Sunday and I would like to use my IPhone for free facetime calls without having any charges, and I understand I can do this completely for free as long as I have wifi.

So, where can I get free wifi after I get off the ship? Anyone already put together a list or a map of free wifi locations? I am not interested in paying at all.

In the festival center where you get off the ship has free wifi. I tend to check any emails or information when we go to Nassua here. Not sure about other places in Nassua but I know the port area has it.

I believe Festival Place is a construction zone (or will be any day now).

Free wifi can be found in certain restaurants and eateries when you purchase something. Mc D's, Dunkin Donuts and Conch Fritters to name a few.. but they also will cut it off if you hang around too long.

Great responses so far. Anyone else?

Anyone visit recently? The more details the better.

For example, something like this:

When you exit the cruise ships and exit Festival Place, you will come to Charlotte Street. As you head away fron the cruise ships you will see a Hard Rock Cafe on the left side of Charlotte Street and a Starbucks on the right side. You can get a strong wifi outside either of these right on the sidewalk and there is no password.

^^ that is the detail of tips I am hoping for, if possible.

How about in the John Bull shopping plaza on Bay Street?

Is that for real, or just a made up example? :o

I've never been and curious to any tips out there. :)

It is a made up example. It is the type of comment I am seeking.

Also, no offense, but telling someone to just ask/follow the crew isn't what I want. I have time now to plan, so I am. On the ship, I don't want to be wasting vacation time asking multiple crew members for free wifi hotspots at one specific island, when they may not ever even get off the ship at that island.

Last time I was there (2 years ago), it was obvious that Festival Place was the place with wifi because when you walked in, you saw all the cruise staff on the left side skyping/facetiming. The connection was slow because so many people were using it, but it worked. I tried going toward the middle of Festival Place (in front of the band) and got spotty service.

I don't know what your plans are, but there may be Wifi at Senor Frogs. They had it at the one in Cozumel---you just had to ask and they set it up for you. I realize that's not all that helpful, but maybe someone who's been there can weigh in.

Googling "free wifi hotspots nassau" yields some good results too.

I found this information on another blog as I too will be needing wifi briefly while in Nassau. I hope this helps you out and meets your specifications :D

Nassau, Bahamas

Festival Place Welcome Center, at the Prince George Wharf. When you exit your cruise ship, you will walk through this Welcome Center to enter downtown Nassau. Within the center, also a shopping plaza, you can access their free Wi-Fi. This is one of the most popular spots due to its convenience, so the connection is not the fastest.

McDonald’s offers free Wi-Fi in their downtown Nassau store. Take a right out of the cruise terminal, walking towards Senor Frogs. Take a left and you will see McDonald’s, across from the Hilton, with free high-speed Wi-Fi.

Dunkin Donuts offers free and fast Wi-Fi at their downtown store with purchase, also located across from the British Colonial Hilton, and their store on Paradise Island.

Conch Fritters Bar & Grill is a popular restaurant with free Wi-Fi on Marlborough St and Blue Hill Road. Scoop up some delicious local seafood with your internet, and you have to try the conch fritters of course.

Cable Beach Casino offers free Wi-Fi in their lobby for beach bums that would like to head to Cable Beach.

Twin Brothers Grill not only features a delicious daiquiri, but Wi-Fi as well, in their very Bahamian-vibe restaurant. Located in Arawak Cay of West Bay Street in Nassau.

Starbucks has 7 stores (yes, 7!) on Nassau and Paradise Island. While their Wi-Fi isn’t free (they charge about $3/hour) it is air-conditioned with comfy seats and your favorite familiar coffee drink!

If you decided not to lug around your laptop or mobile device, or just would rather leave it locked in your cabin, there are a few Internet Cafes in Nassau.

Festival Place Welcome Center not only offers free Wi-Fi but there are 4 internet terminals for $5/hour on the computers.

Tikal Internet Cafe, on Bay Street in the heart of downtown Nassau. It’s one of the largest internet cafes in Nassau; they’ve also got Wi-Fi. They charge $0.20 per minute. Open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Phone: (242) 322-1050.

Net Deli Internet Cafe, located at East and Bay Streets next to QBC. It’s one of the largest internet cafes in Nassau, and a mere 3 minute walk from the Cruise Terminal. Open daily 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Phone (242) 676-6986. 10 cents per minute $4 per hour

The welcome center has great wifi! I was actually picking it up from my ship the last time I was there.

The last time I was there, I was still in college. I was doing my homework on my laptop listening to a band in the welcome center and sipping Kaliks! Good times!

The best free wifi we found last week was in Burger King (didn't buy anything, just sat down). Theoretically the straw market had wifi but we did not get good reception. Same with Festival Place.
