DYI Beach Day (Eagle Beach)

We have a whole port day in Aruba and we're planning a DYI beach day since the ones offered by the cruise line only stay at the beach for a mere 2 hours and it would cost us roughly $200 (family of 4, 2 kids). We read that all beaches in Aruba are public and only the resort areas and facilities are for their private use -- logically. We're thinking about Eagle Beach since it's really close to the port and seems to be in a good location for restaurants, shopping and get a cab back to the ship.

Anyone done a DYI shorex there? If so, is Eagle Beach the best choice for that?

There is no shopping on Eagle Beach.

If you wanted beach AND shopping then you would want to go to Palm Beach.

LOTS of info in this thread Beaches in Aruba

ooo thanks for link/info! I think we might do Surfside instead. One mile each way is nothing and we get the benefit of walking back to the ship for lunch.

If you decide on Surfside, you could grab lunch at West Deck. It is right there and very good. There are some other restaurants close by at Renaissance Marina. Just to let you know, there are no facilities at Surfside, no chairs and not much shade. You might want to consider Reflextions, which is in the Surfside area. They have chairs, umbrellas, food, and a pool. If you do a search on this board, you can probably find some info on them.

Oh, absolutely. We'll do Reflexions. Umbrellas + swimming pool access makes it a great deal.

  • 2 weeks later...

For info on Moomba I would use the search function for the forum. It is as good as anyplace else on Palm Beach to spend a beach day.

The easiest way to visit all of the island's beaches would be via rental car, Kini Kini Beach tour or private taxi tour.
