West Palm Beach Airport after Cruise

We live in Central NJ and we prefer to fly United when at all possible. We are cruising 8/26 - 9/3/17.

Has anyone traveled to PBI from POM after debarkation? Ride Guru says "71 miles and 1 hour 10 minutes" If we fly into FLL and fly out of PBI the fare is $372. The NY area flights to and from Miami/FLL are very high - probably because it will be Labor Day weekend. I don't know if they will go down - most likely not. This morning R/T EWR - FLL was $396 - but we get in at 11:33 PM and R/T EWR - MIA is $601! :o:confused::mad:

Any thoughts on choosing this airport?

PBI is a great airport (as long as your travels don't conflict with the arrival or departure of President Trump - you should be okay in August) - not chaotic like MIA and FLL. It is a long distance from POM so the most economical means of getting to PBI is probably renting a car. You didn't mention flight times. I do think ride guru's time estimate is way off. I would put it closer to 1 1/2 hours to be safe plus you will need to add the time to rent and drop off the car. Alternatively you could look at Uber.

Thank you for the input. Ride Guru lists a price of $75 for Uber. Avis car rental is $88. Flight would be at 5:30 PM. The car would give us a little flexibility - maybe a nice lunch ( because I didn't eat enough on the cruise - lol) along the inter-coastal. But, the Uber would be more relaxing for DH. I just don't want to pay $601 for a 2 3/4 hr flight......

A rental car is the way to go. For any rental you will pay the minimum twenty four hour fee which normally doesn't include a drop off fee. I have done this numerous times and there was never a problem. A rental car gives you the opportunity to see the area, have a nice lunch, and a place to store your luggage. If you are saving at least one hundred dollars per passenger it's definitely worth it. Have a wonderful cruise.

$88 is a bit high for a same day rental at that time of year. I would be willing to bet that at least one of Alamo, National, Enterprise, Budget, Thrifty , or Dollar will have cheaper rates than Avis.
