Four of us will be doing the Prague to Budapest river cruise with Uniworld in July, We will spent extra time in Prague. We are looking for a reasonable priced hotel and found the Grand Hotel Prague and wondering if anyone has had experience with this hotel. Also will spend extra time in Budapest and would appreciate any info on hotels there.

About a month ago I stayed at the Victoria Hotel in Budapest (Buda side) and enjoyed it. It's a small hotel on the river bank with a breathtaking view of Parliament (awesome illumination). All rooms have the view. It's not luxury, but clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the Chain Bridge.

We loved our small boutique hotels in BUD and Prague. The Opera Garden is a relatively new place in Budapest. It is 5 minutes from the Opera House and right near the subway stop. There are nice inexpensive restaurants on the pedestrianized street where the hotel is located. There is a fully equipped kitchen, free internet and breakfast.

The Unitas in Prague is very similar. It is on a quiet street not too far from the action. It did not have a kitchen but did have free internet and breakfast which was great. You will love your visit!

We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel for our pre-cruise nights in Budapest and paid the extra 25 euros per night to upgrade to a room facing the Danube and that was one of the best spent 25 euros of our trip. The view from room 720 was spectacular as each night we so enjoyed the illumination of the Buda view of the river from our room. The room was comfortable clean, bath small for a Hotel of that caliber, concierge service excellent and a fabulous breakfast buffet which was included with our room. Convenient walking to chain bridge,Vaci Uti and St Stephen's Basilica. We would definitely would stay there again :)

Even though it was a Tauck first cruise present to us (and thus free)staying at the Le Meridien in Budapest was truly outstanding. The rooms, service, location and food were 5 star. As a base it is within walking distance of a lot of sites and if possible we'd stay there again.

Thanks for that I have booked that hotel for August this year post Uniworld cruise Amsterdam to Budapest... last time in Budapest stayes at the Hotel Erzsebet, not far from the Erzsebet Bridge quiet but no views and a below average breakfast offering... but close to Vaca Utca and a quite nice Sicilian Restaurant next door...
