Rare mizLORInj Posted July 30, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2014 Both are great ships. Different but each has fabulous features. I'd suggest reading reviews on both.
CasinoCruzGirl Posted July 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2014 I didnt book them yetI have bern on royal caribiean 3 times. I love the ships but need something different Your aware of the freestyle concept I would think. I personally am a big fan of that rather than other ships dining options, i.e. Set dining times, set table seating. So much to do on breakaway. I personally think all the food is good even the mdr's. Casino is fun if you gamble NCL has great casino perks. Slides, ropes courses are great. Are you sailing with family? If you can afford a suite I hear they are the way to go. I have not yet sailed in a suite but plan on it at some point.

Thanks. Sorry, but this question, like the subject is wide open. There are a few thousand reviews posted in the review section talking about NCL. Hundreds on each of these ships - which are sisters. The folks here are very helpful, but it is hard to answer such a wide open question. You might read some reviews, and scan down through postings for a few pages to get an idea of what questions you might have.

I would also recommend reading the Frequently Asked Questions section of NCL. It answers a lot of questions that new guests have. http://www.ncl.com/faq Welcome. You can also browse and compare each ship's amenities on NCL.com. • Gem - http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/gem/overview • Breakway - http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/breakaway/overview At the risk of vastly oversimplifying: • Gem - Panamax class ship that's "smaller", more intimate and relaxed especially if you enjoy relaxing in various bar/lounges with live music. • Breakaway - Mega-ship with lots of unique entertainment and dining options (Two Broadway-class production shows, extensive sports complex, etc.) • Both ships have common amenities (evening production shows, freestyle dining/specialty restaurants/24x7 pub restaurant/room service/buffet, live music "everywhere", casino, pools, multiple bar/lounges, duty free shopping, etc. ).
