DaytonCruiser Posted February 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2012 No real secret, you just have to put the key in the hole. Not something you can really practice..its just luck. info here, for those curious http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1548177
Miller_KC Posted February 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2012 It's a game of skill like you see in a lot of arcades. You need really good depth perception and a steady hand. Also keep in mind they are not going to loose money with a game that gives you a $500 ipad for $1. They expect that you or someone will miss more than 500 times before someone gets lucky and hits it just right. Since it is a game of skill, it is available to play even when the rest of the casino is shut down.

I just got off the Valor and a guy won the iPad on there last week. My husband tried a few times. It really is just a lucky thing. That machine makes A LOT of money. People stand nearby and watch people try their luck and cheer each other on.
happy cruzin Posted February 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2012 DS sat at the bar for hours watching people put $20 bill after $20 bill in that machine....and NEVER saw anyone win a thing!
PictureChris Posted February 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Makes you wonder if the glass on the machine is coated/warped/something to make it harder?
vwrestler171 Posted February 20, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2012 They have something similar at an arcade in Salt lake, and I have won a cpl iPods and an iPhone on it. There is a little trick that makes it easier, but it comes from yrs of losing money on those machines when I was younger. Can't really explain it
Rare skittl1321 Posted February 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2012 Sounds like the quarter flipper... I could feed money into that thing all day... It is just so amusing, but it never pays to do it.
med9114u Posted February 21, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2012 On our Miracle cruise last year, someone won an Ipad the first night and the 2nd to last night. There are smaller prizes available that are "easier" to win, but everyone (including myself) tries for the Ipad.
nlt46 Posted February 21, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 21, 2012 On the Magic in January, at least 2 ipads were won. I never played, but I enjoyed watching others play. It did seem to take in a lot of money. I knew that I would never be a winner on it. Nancy

Kreeb Posted February 21, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 21, 2012 Fascinating game of chance. We tried it several times, got close, but no cigar. The top prize on the Liberty last month was the Ipad2 plus $500. We saw a guy win that prize. Several of the other cash prizes were also won, but I can tell you that it is extremely difficult, but not impossible.....lots of fun though. aggieastrosfan Posted February 21, 2012 #16 Share Posted February 21, 2012 We sunk $40 in it on the Magic in December. Very addicting once you get started, so stay away! DH and I put $20 in while we were in port in Jamaica, and almost instantly we had a crowd of at least 10 people watching. We grabbed a table by the bar when we were done and watched everyone else have a go at it. Never saw anyone win.
golfadj Posted February 21, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 21, 2012 8 days on the Valor last month and must have seen 200 go into the machine and nothing come out. It is addictive to a lot of people though.

Its just calls your name...lol Games of chance always seem to suck people in,just like at most amusement parks and carnivals. People feel like its easy, plus they get so close to winning. :D Plus its less intimidating that the slot machines, people feel like they have some control over it. Add into it they think the person that did it before them just didnt know what they were doing!! I would love to know how much they make from the machines on a per day basis.:p
Wrigley0524 Posted May 2, 2012 #20 Share Posted May 2, 2012 I was on the Carnival Pride from 4/15-4/23 and I won an iPad and $500 the last night of the cruise. It started a huge line after I won. While on the cruise one other iPad & $500 was won, there were a couple of other winners for $100 or $200. I do not know why you would even try for that though. I only played when I had ones on me so it cost me $6 until the last night... then i Had one $1 bill left and I came real close, so I put in a $5 and I won on the second try of the $5 bill. (Came real close on the next three, but no more wins) There is a little secret to it, but its hard to explain and easier to show. There isn't much room to not get it in. On my 7th try at it I hit just the clear part on top below the colored outline (less than a 1/16th of an inch)

jas1178 Posted May 2, 2012 #22 Share Posted May 2, 2012 I hate to be a wet blanket, but please understand this is NOT a game of skill. These games are highly popular with the player because they think it IS a game of skill. These games are highly popular with operators because they are 100% safe and HIGHLY profitable. The manufacturer of these machines advertises that you can even give away a CAR as the prize. You will always be OH SO CLOSE unless the chip says - hey its time to give away a prize. The winner mentioned he didn't know why people would go for the $100 or $200 prize...the answer, with the machine controlling ROI - there is a statistically better chance for you to win the lower prize than the top prize. So, as long as you understand this is similar to a slot machine (but NOT as random as a slot machine) - play. You have a chance at winning. However, please don't think it is a game of skill..it is not.

There's no skill involved in winning but they sure do like to make it look like there is. :D We recently had 4 free coupons on a Princess ship which recently introduced the same machine and on my last try hit for $100 but there was no ipod at that time. I'm guessing they only refill the machine once per cruise for those. Took my money & went home after seeing dozens of tries come up with nothing.;)
reerun25 Posted May 2, 2012 #24 Share Posted May 2, 2012 So how much is it per play, $1 or $5? Is there an minimum age limit to be able to play this machine?
