Cruise Excursion...HELP!

My husband and I are taking the Celebration 2 day cruise to Grand Bahama Island and need help on what to do when we get off the ship for our 1 day on the island. Must we book an excursion with the ship or can we do things on our own cheaper??

No, you don't have to do a ship's excursion.

You can get some ideas of what you can do on your own.

You do not need to book an excursion thru the ship. You can either book a tour on your own or with others from the Roll Call for the cruise or just go off on your own.

Through the cruise line or not, the excursion choice is yours. Base it on your comfort level navigating a new location but you must be aware of the return to ship time. The ship will not wait for you if your private tour is not back to the ship when it is time to sail.

How comfotable do you feel about taking tours on your own in a place you have never been to?

Granted they are cheaper -- but you have to know what you are doing.

And as said -- check the All Aboard time -- usually 1/2 hour before the ship is scheduled to sail. The ship will only wait for their own excursions.

I usually find others to join from the roll call. I very rarely use ship excursions. Search your destination for things you want to do. Try wikitravel or just do a general google search for your destination. I usually like to find a nice beach and do my own snorkeling.
