Best time to cruise to Hawaii- March or April

We are making our reservations to cruise from San Francisco to Hawaii on Princess Cruise Lines. What is better March or April? Thanks Judy

In Hawaii, no real difference.

As you leave from the West Coast and return, it might be warmer in April, and the seas a little smoother. Maybe, but no guarantees.

There is really no difference weather wise. But, depending on the year, April might be less crowded if Easter and spring break season is over.

I've read that March is usually better for whale watching in Hawaii than in April.

Easter is late in 2017 (4/16) but our grandkids elementary school spring break is in late March.

Regarding whales, this is true. This past fall, some whales appeared earlier, but the major group was later. Reports are they are staying later, due to their recovery. However, it is not predictable. We just don't know.

The weather doesn't change much in Hawaii. Maybe a little warmer. Maybe slightly smaller crowds, before school gets out. But minor differences.

We were there in early April, and saw plenty of whales....moms and babies....no males...they've headed north after mating!
