Hello there....

This will be our first time in Curacao and we are undecided as to whether we should book an excursion or see the island and a beach ourselves. Any suggestions??? We would like to see island highlights and also spend time on a beach. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!:)

On Carnival we did the Coastal and Country Tour...it was pretty cool..very few people ( less than 20)...if you can find a private one to do it'll go much faster...you will enjoy the bokas...they are amazing to see in person. Have a great time!

One of our port stops on the Conquest in May was Curacao. After reading a lot of reviews on the beaches, we decided to get off the ship and walk to the taxi stand and share a ride to Sea Aquarium Beach where the BLVD Shops are. The taxi cost $5/person one way. The beach is beautiful, safe and clean and has restrooms, restaurants and tiki bar right on the beach. They also had a lovely swimming pool adjacent to the beach. There is a charge of $3.50 per person to access the beach and $3 to rent a lounge chair. There are lots of beautiful palm trees lining the beach where you can sit in the shade. There is a rock outcropping that buffers the big waves so the water is perfect for young children to swim. When we decided to go back to the ship, we had no problem finding a taxi to share. This was a relatively inexpensive beach day and one of our favorites of the cruise.

If you are in Curacao in the evening, I would suggest you walk to the RIF Fort and enjoy one of the many restaurants and ice cream shop. Walk through the fort to the seawall and to the pontoon bridge which is all lit up at night and changes colors.

How far is Sea Aquarium beach from port? Any special place to be dropped off or do the taxi drivers know? I don't really want to pay $100 pp for an all inclusive.
