skynight Posted October 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Sailing Royal Princess 10-night Caribbean in December, do we need to pack attire for "theme nights"? Haven't sailed Princess since 2001, so don't know what is current. No. 99.9% of passengers do not wear themed outfits to the "theme" night activity. Dress in normal tropical evening casual dress. Theme nights are better defined as theme participant shows. They are about one hour long, and many times they are scheduled during late traditional dining around 9:30. Many passengers do have some sort of "Island" shirt that they wear to the deck party, and on other nights.
OCruisers Posted October 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Welcome to Cruise Critic! :) We haven't seen cruisers dress for theme nights on Princess ships in years ... except for the deck party on Island Night when some do wear tropical shirts. Shadow205 Posted October 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2014 It really is a shame that people do not participate in the theme nights anymore. We did lots of cruising in the 90's and many passengers did. We always had lots of fun participating. Of course there were people who didn't and that was fine too. Pam in CA Posted October 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2014 I've never noticed a theme night nor would I participate if there is one. I pack efficiently and that does not include anything I'd wear only once.

Why advertise if you don't want people to get dressed up? Love Boat Disco Deck Party – To honor the iconic role The Love Boat played in the line’s history, a new Love Boat Disco Party will celebrate the beloved program by creating an exciting 70’s theme night with a few surprises. Movies Under the Stars will showcase video messages from the original Love Boat cast, special montages from the show, a Love Boat sing-a-long and show trivia, 70’s music videos and even a live kiss cam. The party will also feature a production number, a celebration of weddings and anniversaries of guests onboard, a photo opportunity with a Love Boat life ring and plenty of dancing with a party band. A neon satin shirt would be nice.
