Can only answer from Aussie Carnival but if you have anytime dining then you can just ask for a table for 2 however you may have to wait for a little while unless you eat late.

Otherwise ask you TA if you can request a table for 2 - not sure as i get confused on this between Carnival and Princess. We prefer table of 6.

If you request and receive Your Time Dining, you can get a two top for sure. The hostess will ask if you want to be alone or with others.

If you have set dining time, go to the dining room when you embark and find your table assignment. Someone will be there to show you the table you have been assigned.

If you're not happy, see the MD and request a change. He will accommodate if at all possible.

When we sail with just the two of us, we check our table assignment up boarding. If we're at a larger table, we go to the Maitre'D's station when they open (usually 3:00 or so) to change our table to a two top. It has always worked in our favor, and now there's Anytime Dining, it's easier to get a two top.

We have frequently asked for a table for 2. We will go to the maitre'd on embarkation day and make the request. It is generally around 1pm when he will be taking requests in one of the main dining rooms. The time will be noted in the Fun Times and you may also inquire at guest services after boarding. This is for assigned dining.

We have also done this with any time dining but like the table selection much better with assigned. Any time dining seems to be very slow and the tables are sometimes so close together you might as well be at a table for 10!

Just book Your Time Dining and you can have a table for 2 each night! You just go to the dining room and they seat you as they would in a restaurant on shore.

We only sail with YTD as we prefer to choose our dining companions! We enjoy being together at a table for 2 and if we meet folks on the ship who also have YTD we can arrange to meet them for dinner one night also.

IF you find a wait staff you enjoy you can ask for them each night so that they get to know your preferences.

You just ask to sit in their area each night and it will be a lovely experience!!
