I will be staying at the Hilton on 17th street. Looking at google maps, port everglades looks like its only a 1/4 mile away. Im thinking of just walking there. I hear it is a secure area and was wondering if its possible to enter on on foot or if its actually further then it looks and we should take a cab.

Thanks

It really depends on what pier your ship is going to be located.

While yes, you can walk, it isn't something that is recommended.

It is a very busy, commercial port and traffic is very heavy with big semi trucks and passenger vehicles.

So while yes, you can walk to port, I would not.

I would not suggest walking to the port. It's a HUGE facility, lots of traffic in an industrial type area and that could defintely be a really bad start to your wonderful trip. Most hotels have a shuttle but a taxi is even cheaper, like $10.00. :o

If you pull up a map of Port Everglades, you'll see that the larger cruise ship terminals are at the southern end and the main entrance is down off Eller Boulevard. That'll be the most likely spot you'll find out which terminal you ship is at too. Closer to a mile and a half walk down Eisenhower to get to the gate. Cabbies are used to this short trip so grab a cab and tip generously.

Glad you decided NOT to walk it......Port Everglades is not what I

consider "Pedestrian Friendly".......not even close. Remember, there

are other ships and barges in there that are not cruiseships. Much

easier to grab a cab.
