Rome Food Tour

The search option is not working for me - so sorry if this a duplicate question. Does anyone have information on the Rome Food Tour that takes you around Rome to different restaurants where you taste dishes at each stop?

I was interested in price and any reviews or a link to more info.

Thanks in advance!

I'll suggest you head over to the chowhound website, go to the Italy board, and search around. There are some excellent suggestions over there. I had tried to get a tour with one of the regular contributors to the board (who has her own tour company also), but she was taking vacation at my vacation :( But, I got very valuable recommendations from her on some things to do and see...

We were in Rome last year and did a food tour called Eating Italy. it was wonderful. Think I recall 9 different stops, including a sit down lunch at a wonderful restaurant and a stop at the Cemetery..yes I said Cemetery. It was scenic, but had nothing to do with food. They have some of the greatest public restrooms in Rome. Recall breakfast at a pastry shop, sampled cannoli there also, then to the olive oil, vinegar and dessert wine purveyor, then pizza snack, then a visit to the market with salad sample and bruschetta, toured all the stands, sampled fruit, veg ect, then the cemetery for bio break, then lunch followed by gelato stand, a sample of arracini and quick anecdote about the Mafia and the Vatican. One of the best excursions ever.

You can book it through the websiteEatingItaly.com. they have 2 starting times, 10:30 or 11:00 AM. If they are fully booked, Viatour also books for them, same tour think only the 11:30 time is available and it costs a little more money. If you are interested, Do not miss it. Think we finished at about 2:45 in Trastevere.

Last May we did the evening tour via EatingItaly. It was fantastic. My dh is a foodie and it was the highlight of his time in Italy.

That's the one I'm planning to book for May, 2014. A little pricey at 85 Euro per person, bit like you said, good reviews.

I have seen a few food tours for Rome offered - some that include Campo de Fiori. We have done the cooking classes with Chef Andrea three times now - and would do it again over a food tour. Just saying.

Glad to hear that you liked your cooking class with Andrea. This is another activity I plan to book for Rome, May 2014. We stayed at the Santa Maria Inn in Trestevere in 2007, so it will be fun to revisit.

A lot of our trips are based around food and wine.

I looked into EatingItaly. The reviews a good. The price is better at 65 Euro person. And had planned on booking until recently. It came down to not wanting to go to the old Testaccio area. I wanted to stay in the heart of Rome and we are staying at a hotel in the Pantheon Piazza.

Food Tours of Rome goes to the Jewish Ghetto, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Farnese, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon area, etc. To me, it will be fun and interesting exploring restaurants in these areas.

Either one would be fun and they both get good reviews.

My husband and I did this one Sept 2012. I can't tell you how much fun we had. It was one of the top highlights of a 3 week trip filled with highlights. Incredible food. Regardless of when we go back to Rome it will be one of the first things we do again. Bruno was amazing.

What did you think of the tour? Was it the evening tour? We are looking to do a food tour later this month. If you have also done the EatingItaly evening tour, how does it compare?

Thanks for your response and also for responses from anyone else.

We used company below which is also highly rated on Trip Advisor #24. We did the Twilight Trastevere tour. It was excellent and a highlight for us. Do the food tour as soon as you can ---- we discovered great places we wanted to return to the next day!

I was looking at this company but it is very far from where we are staying near the Pantheon. Does anyone know of a food tour walking distance from the Pantheon area?

If you're talking about the Testaccio tour, it is not that far from the Pantheon, less than half an hour of strolling through the beautiful city. The Trastevere tour is a bit closer, probably 15 minutes if you take the little tram from Largo Argentina (#8?). But you may be talking about a different tour?

Yes, you do need a cab stand but they're not hard to find. I'm sure the tour folks would be happy to point you in the right direction. There is one five minutes from the Pantheon right at the Largo Argentina excavation site, where all the cats are, if you needed one on your way to meet the tour. There are probably others close by as well, that's just the one I know in that area.

If you are thinking of the Twilight Trastevere tour, the starting point (near the Synagogue) is only a 10-15 minute walk from the Pantheon...
