ann141 Posted June 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2015 We are visiting Split as part of a Med cruise in September. Wondering if there will be enough to do/see if we just do our own thing?(we have booked excursions at some of the other ports so would rather have a fairly relaxing day at Split) Are there any must sees ?:)

4774Papa Posted June 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2015 You can do the palace on your own, but tours are inexpensive. We did a private tour of the palace as well as going to a seaside town of Trogir, north of Split.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted June 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Absolutely loved Split on my sailing in October. I got off the ship with a few people from my roll call, and we went to the palace and did a leisurely self-tour. Afterwards we hunted down a restaurant one of the roll call members had found in her research and wanted to try. We spent a couple hours there sampling local foods and beer. Then went shopping at the stalls along one side of the palace. It was a great day and a fond memory of our cruise. I felt it was just enough and I'm sure there would have been other things to do had we sought them out. But, like you, we were wanting a leisurely day. Putterdude Posted June 24, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2015 We did a short little bus trip which was rather interesting and then spent rest of the day in the rain exploring old Split; it is very easy to get around in and quite doable on your own.
