Vinnyv20032003 Posted August 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Hi there, Based on your experiences how many bottles of wine are we allowed to bring onboard at embarkation. Are we allowed to bring bottles on at ports during the cruise? It's an 11 night sailing, thank you.
vaitape Posted August 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We're first time cruisers on Windstar and asked the same question. Have been told 2-3 bottles for a 14 day cruise.
acruisefan Posted August 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2017 You can now bring on board 1 bottle per person. The special event on our last cruise was a tasting and lunch at a winery. Many people purchased wine and I think they just brought it back to their rooms as I did not see anybody having their bottles taken for storage. I didn't buy any so I don't know for sure. I think the corkage fee is still $15 if you bring the wine to the dining room, but they will store the unused portion for you. No charge if you consume the wine in your room. It used to be unlimited wine to bring on board - One time we stopped at a french wine store in St Maarten and picked up a case to bring on board. On subsequent cruises, we decided that the wine was reasonably priced and why bother. On our last cruise we did bring 2 bottles on board that I had purchased while on a food tour in Rome before our cruise began.
2LoveToTravel Posted August 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2017 The wine is reasonably priced on board as you said, but we can't resist bringing French wine on board when we are in St Barts. We have bought some really nice wine at 5 euros, and you can bring on board 2 bottles per person, per day. Corkage is $15. sauertea Posted August 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2017 When we sailed from Athens to Venice, I bought some champagne in the duty free. They did not even check my back when I came back on board. Not sure how diligently they search bads
6rugrats Posted August 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2017 I've never had my bag checked when coming back onboard, and there are no scanners.
dandee2 Posted August 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2017 Just came back from tahiti. Unless you act funny or out of place I don't think they will search your bags. But then, it might change.
jims01 Posted August 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2017 Has anyone had experience with bringing spirits (whiskey, vodka) onboard at embarkation? I'm aware of the policy that allows 2 bottles of wine or champagne per cabin, but my dad isn't a wine fan and I was hoping to bring on a nice bottle of scotch if that's allowed.
