Mt. Roberts Tram. Is this a must see/do?

Someone asked about Mendenhall so I thought I'd ask about the Tram.

This is pretty weather-dependent. If it's a nice day - go. But if the visibility is bad, go only if you're an avid hiker.

I take it this can be booked/purchased upon arrival at the tram...no pre purchase necessary?

How far izzit from the dock?

Like stated above.... don't pre-buy this but get a ticket when there if the weather is good.... a ticket will let you ride up and down all day long as many times as you want.....good plan....:) It's right there where the ships dock.....

To me,the tram is more a time filler/killer than a must do. It's Ok & you can get a great view of the ships and beautiful downtown Juneau. I'm glad to have done it once, but doubt that I will ever do it again.

Definately don't prepurchase Mt. Roberts tram tickets. Also be aware they are for the full day, so if in port late, take a ride up at dusk/night. Very very beautiful views with Juneau and the ships lit up.

No prepurchase necessary - it pretty much is AT the dock.

Like others have said, you can buy your ticket when you arrive. You only want to go up if it's a somewhat clear day. You'll get great views. And if you like to hike there a number of trails that you can take if you have the time. We went part way up one and had some more great views. But again only if you like to hike as parts are strenuous.
