BSinPNS Posted June 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2016 If you are arriving on Delta or American (Terminals 4/5/6) and departing on Air France (TBIT), you can stay behind security by using the tunnels between 4/5/6 and then use American's new connector walkway to Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) used by Air France. This does not help if you are using Air Tahiti Nui as they do not depart from TBIT. When returning to LAX, it makes no difference as you need to reclear TSA after customs. FYI, we arrived on AF on Sunday, June 12, at 5:30 PM. Took about 45 minutes to clear immigration, customs and baggage drop. Then hiked in the cool diesel filled air to Terminal 5 for our flight to ATL. Had a great time on PG.
Subliminal Posted June 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) Great tip, but Air Tahiti Nui does depart out of TBIT. We departed from there in May. The tunnels work for both AF & TN. Also, the entire south complex connects now. United terminals 7, 8 plus American & Delta 4, 5 & 6 can all stay inside security to TBIT. Rare deladane Posted June 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2016 Does anyone know if it connects to the terminal used by Southwest??
azlew Posted June 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2016 Does anyone know if it connects to the terminal used by Southwest?? Good question as we need a shortcut in LAX less than 60 days from SW to Air Tahiti .
BSinPNS Posted June 15, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 15, 2016 You will not be able to stay behind security. Besides, Southwest does not interline. This means you will have to pick up all your luggage at SW baggage claim and carry it to the Air France or Air Tahiti Nui check in counter and recheck it. Same on return. drduck Posted June 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Does anyone know if it connects to the terminal used by Southwest?? How about Alaska to Air France inside security?
BSinPNS Posted June 19, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 19, 2016 So yes, you can stay behind security going to Tahiti. As mentioned before, there is no way to stay behind security on your return trip.
dansgirlie Posted July 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2016 Hi All, My DH and I are booked on Alaska arriving LAX and then on to ATN. We are not on one ticket. Question: Is the T4 connector for passengers with either carry-on or checked thru luggage? Not sure if Alaska and ATN are interline or not. If not, will we be able to pick up our luggage and still stay inside? or will we have to pick up luggage and then catch the bus to TBIT? TIA
BSinPNS Posted July 25, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted July 25, 2016 The connectors are behind security. You can only have your carryons with you since you collect your checked baggage outside security. You will need to check with Alaska to see if they will interline your baggage if both legs are not on the same ticket. If they will, you are set. If not, you will have to exit security after your flight to LAX, claim your bags, take them to the ATN check-in counter, check them and then go back through security. Wendy The Wanderer Posted July 29, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 29, 2016 We generally fly Air Canada, which is T2, and we've walked from Tom Bradley. And no interline at least the last time we did this.
tymike Posted August 21, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 21, 2016 Any advice on whether four hours layover time is enough in LAX to switch from an AF flight from PPT to an American Airlines flight from LAX to JFK? I've booked the round trip AF-PPT flights but am now working on the NYC-LAX flights. Thanks all!
