juliet Posted June 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Looking to take a cruise from either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami to Los Angeles or San Francisco in September or October of this year (2017) but not sure what cruise line to go on. Any suggestions? thinfool Posted June 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2017 The lines that offer somewhat regular full transit sailings are Princess, HAL and Celebrity. They are quite similar and subject to personal taste as to which one is 'preferable'. They are not the only ones, but the others are more likely to be one-off events. Example: Carnival Splendor has one that moves the ship to the West Coast in late January or Feb. 2018.
BillB48 Posted June 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2017 It may be easier to first fine a cruise line that has the itinerary you want... that will make your choice a lot easier. Celebrity, Princess and HAL are good places to start as mentioned earlier. Which is best? Everyone has their favorite based on what particular they like about a cruise line, if you have anything you particularly like about a certain cruise line... start looking there. All of the lines mentioned above will do a good job on a Canal cruise.
CruiserBruce Posted June 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2017 In September/October, the choices of westbound cruises will be much smaller than those of east bound, as ships are repositioning from Alaska to the Caribbean season. You will find one or two (I am pretty sure Holland America has a west bound in that time frame) westbound, but more than a dozen going to Florida. We will be on one- Holland America's Eurodam, sailing Oct 20 out of San Francisco, arriving Ft Lauderdale Nov 5.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2017 I would either go to a search engine that allows you to pull up all cruises doing this sailing or have a travel agent specializing in cruises help you with this. Keith
Rare Essiesmom Posted June 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2017 NCL also has Panama Canal cruises, both full transits and partial. EM https://www.ncl.com/vacations/panama-canal-cruises-?destinations=4294961383
