Are any decks a no-no??

When choosing a room is there a deck or area you would NOT pick ??

Anyone have experience with doing 2 rooms and having carnival choose rooms in order to get a better price? Like a super saver rate?? Was it worth it??

I personally like to stay away from the decks that have public areas above or below my cabin. I like to have cabins above and below me. If the price was significantly better I would let Carnival pick for me though, but I would have to be saving a decent amount of money to do it.

not picks include under the lido buffet ...they seem to drag chairs around at 4am to clean the floor....

under the Disco unless you plan on closing it before you get some sleep:cool:

May not matter if you tend to be up 'til 3am every night, but I don't pick rooms close to elevators or stairs where people would tend to stand around talking loudly. If on Empress deck, I avoid being close to the atrium for the same reason.

It's generally a good policy to avoid decks with bars, restaurants, galleys, or other public spaces above or below or open decks above. I also generally avoid the lowest passenger deck only because it's difficult to know what crew areas are beneath a given cabin.

Try to pick a cabin that has other cabins above and below, and you should be fine.

Oh and personally I would never book a "guarantee" cabin. Spend the extra few dollars to make sure that you're happy with your assignment.

I like cabins on decks that have cabins above and below them. Although, recently I had a cabin directly below the gift shops and heard no noise from above.

Just be aware that if you need 2 cabins and are letting Carnival chose your cabin, there is a chance that the 2 cabins may be far apart from one another, even on different decks.

And in letting Carnival choose your cabin, you get "leftovers". The cabins that others did not choose. The last time that I let them choose my cabin, I ended up on the lowest deck in the very first cabin forward. It was noisy ALL the time and vibrated to the point of things fall off the bathroom counter continually. Never again---now, I ALWAYS pick my cabin.

last cruise we wanted adjoining rooms...only ones we were told were left were over the casino. I heard different reports. I will say it was loud! However I didn't care and still slept good. I will not book there again though.

I have let Carnival pick my room several times to save a few bucks. I always ended up on deck 2 - fine with me, I like it there. My DH and I brought his family on a cruise once and let Carnival pick the rooms. We were not "close" to each other, but it doesn't really matter. You can always call the other cabin on the phone if you want (it is free to another cabin). Of course, there are reasons you would want to be close (kids, watching older adults, etc), but we didn't have a problem with it.

As has been stated - I like my cabin - over & under other cabins. Our Personal Vacation Planner has helped us also with picking a room that is not near a BABY (3 to a cabin)...

We are also fans of being sandwiched between cabins. We haven't booked two rooms as GTYs before, but we were given complimentary upgrades for two cabins and we were placed on opposite sides of the ship. We were on 8 Aft and Mom was on 7 Forward on the Glory.

Usually between two passenger decks.

Definitely avoid connecting cabins when not traveling with family.

Same as most of those above. Definitely avoid cabins above/below the galley, and those cabins close to the theater. (Some ships have cabins on the same deck as the forward lounge. (Spirit Class) I stay at least 10 or so cabins aft from that lounge, on the Riviera Deck.) NEVER take a cabin right above, or below any of the clubs. They too, play loud music very late at times. :eek:
