Rare Turtles06 Posted September 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2014 We'll be disembarking at Port Everglades from a transatlantic on Sunday, Nov. 16. There will be four other ships in port for a total of about 16,000 pax. In other words, a zoo. Friends are coming to pick us up by car. The Port's web site says there's a "cell phone waiting area," so I assume that's where our friends should wait till we call to let them know we've cleared immigration and customs. But where do they go then in terms of picking us up? Where do we meet them? We've never disembarked at this port before, so all advice about arranging this pickup would be much appreciated. Thanks! The two docks in Ft. Lauderdale/Port Everglades that we have sailed out of, had very large parking lots. Tons of cabs, cars, and shuttles parked there. CruiserBruce Posted September 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2014 First, 4 ships is not a zoo. It is actually below average for a normal winter cruising day. 6 ships is about average, 8 or 9 is a zoo. Yes, there is cell phone waiting areas. When called, your friends should drive to the front of the Terminal you are arriving at.
eandj Posted September 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Agree, the parking area is large. It can get kind of busy and crowded. I'd have your friends come later. By 9:30, most of the traffic and cruisers have cleared the area.
royalcruz Posted September 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Your friends can wait either in the cell phone lot or on a parking lot on SE 17th St. They will pick you up outside your terminal when you are ready; police are outside directing traffic. There is no need for them to drive into a port parking lot and pay those fees. Edited September 29, 2014 by royalcruz
