Silver Sweethearts Posted June 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2017 We will be in maui until 11:00 p.m. Are there any luaus we can go to and be back on board the ship by 10:30 do any of them pick up at the cruiseport? According to your previous posts, you will be on the Carnival Legend. It will be docking at Kahului, Maui. Most, if not all, of the luaus on Maui are in the Lahaina or Wailea areas. None of them offer transportation. You could drive there on your own (if you aren't going to be drinking) or take a taxi (rather expensive but you might share with someone to cut the cost). If you haven't done so already, use the search feature for this forum to check out the various luaus and find answers from people who have had to arrange how to get there. johndru Posted June 25, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2017 We've done it before from Kahului to Lahaina. Went to the Old Lahaina Luau and we highly recommend it! We used a shuttle service from the port to the luau, so that we didn't have to worry about a designated driver. Not sure which shuttle service we used, but a search could help you out in that area. We made it back to the ship with half an hour to spare. Have fun!

You can hire a shuttle van if you have enough people in your group or, as said in our last post, rent a car or take a taxi. If you believe there is a luau shuttle presently, please do let us know the name of it, as we get asked this question a lot.

Astro Flyer Posted June 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2017 We use SpeediShuttle between the Kahului airport & our house and their website has an option for cruise ship transportation but only from Honolulu. I've never used them while in port during a cruise but they show transportation from Kahului airport to Lahaina/Ka'anapali for about $32/pp for a shared shuttle or to pay more for exclusive transportation. The distance is similar from the Kahului port or airport so pricing may be similar. If a group of passengers wanted transportation to the OLL then the shuttle might be an option to explore. https://www.speedishuttle.com/
princeton12321 Posted June 26, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 26, 2017 The luau at the Hyatt Ka'anapali is sort of a sleeper- very enjoyable. We have family that live there and have done them all and that one is one of the better ones. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We have family that live there and have done them all and that one is one of the better ones. When family visits us that's one they've enjoyed & like other luaus it's sometimes discounted. However I've never found any general public discounts for the OLL because of it's popularity.

People may want to remember that Drums of the Pacific (Hyatt luau) covers the Pacific with its show, while Old Lahaina Luau is a traditional Hawaiian luau. Luaus are not all the same. Luaus are not all the same. Great point...some people want to see fire dancers which being Samoan is not included in the OLL's Hawaiian entertainment. Fire dancers are also included at the Feast at Lele which has food & performances from Tahiti, Maori, Samoa & Hawaii. We've greatly enjoyed the experience depicting four Polynesian cultures oceanfront in Lahaina.
