Ship layout improvements?

It is a little time since we sailed with Silversea but are considering one or two cruises with them. One of the reasons was disappointments on two of their ships and we wonder if they have changed.

On the Spirit we found the suite badly arranged - the TV in the mirror and no room between the foot of the bed and the dressing table. Also the Bridge room was tiny and with no windows. Have these been changed?

On the Wind there was not much shelf room in the bathroom and the shower was fixed head rather than flexible which is essential for us. Again, any changes?

None that I know about.

I think not. Silversea has not been very aggressive about dry docks, tho Wind and Cloud had some significant improvements years ago.

We're on a verandah suite on the Wind at the moment. We have a fixed and flexible shower arrangement in our bathroom. The storage in the bathroom is a little tight however there is plenty generally in the suite (in our view).

This morning heard from EnglishUSA/David that they are now switching out the furniture on the Veranda's on the Spirit

The only other thing that happened on the Spirit was that the mattresses were changed and the new ones are 2 inches shorter, thus making the suites look a little wider.

EnglishUSA let me know this morning that the Spirit wait staff and cabin housekeeping all had brand new uniforms this Monday AM--he notes they look very spiffy!

When did the mattresses change on the Spirit? We disembarked on 10/31 they appeared to be same as usual with very little room to pass through.

Within the first year or two after launch, and certainly by 2012.

New uniforms throughout the ship. Cruise Director now has to wear “whites”!

New Boutique opened yesterday. New floor plan, all new walls, floor, etc, but looks from the outside to have very limited clothing stock. Increase in jewelry stocks!

Putting aside the disruption and incovenience to passengers while boutiques are remodelled as ships are under way with paying passengers -- a huge blemish on SS, I think -- the descriptions of the inventories of the new boutiques is very disappointing. Some people would like a reasonably priced t-shirt or a pair of nice flip-flops or a new swim suit while underway. Can that many people really be interested only in high end jewelry?
