courtneypicc9 Posted January 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2014 I'm trying to plan a cruise during March, but my best friend is a die hard Syracuse basketball fan and the tournament will be during the dates I'd like to cruise. Are there TVs on the ship (in bars?) that would have sports channels hosting the college basketball finals?
1025cruise Posted January 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2014 That's a definite maybe.
kitty9 Posted January 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) What cruise lines are you looking at? That makes a difference as some do have network television. But, don't count on seeing every game because ships don't have that ability. There may be a game on the TV in your cabin and maybe in the casino, but you can't count on seeing a particular team. Krazy Kruizers Posted January 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Yes the cruise ships have TV's in the cabins and in the sport's bar (if your ship has one). As to the showing of basketball games -- don't count on it. A lot depends on what channels the ship can get (not a lot of choices like at home) and if the signal is good. It would be either carnival or princess cruise lines. It's the college basketball national championships.
WeatherBoy Posted January 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Don't count on it unless it is the regional finals (the last weekend in March) or the Final Four the following Sat. and Mon. nights. Go Orange
Gunner22aa Posted January 8, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Different cruise lines carry different network feeds. If your line carries the one with the basketball then you will see it. If not your going to be out of luck. What feed you get can also vary by the part of the world you are in. There was a big difference in what we got between our Asia cruise and our last trip to Hawaii both on Princess. Some core channels were the same but not all. Much as I bleed Orange, there is no way I would schedule any vacation time around the NCAA final. it may or may not be available. if they miss it, oh well. Mr Boeheim et al will survive.
