garmar73 Posted September 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Does anyone know the status of the rebuilding of the damaged Boarding Ramp at the Port of Baltimore. We are taking the repo cruise on the Carnival Pride on 01/02/2017 and were just curious.
Tony O Posted September 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Does anyone know the status of the rebuilding of the damaged Boarding Ramp at the Port of Baltimore. We are taking the repo cruise on the Carnival Pride on 01/02/2017 and were just curious. No boarding ramp as of now. It probably won't be available to sometime next year as parties have not settled responsible of accident yet.

Tony O Posted January 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Any updates? I asked my connections who work at the cruise port . They have not heard of any date to replace it. They do hear people like it better without the ramp . They say it easier to get onboard than climbing the steep ramp.

chengkp75 Posted February 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2017 stupid questionhow is the boarding done concerned for my dw who walks with cane It is done at dock level, using the gangway and side port that is used for disembarkation/embarkation at ports of call. They have some conex containers lined up to provide a partially sheltered path to the ship.
shipgeeks Posted February 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 3, 2017 The current boarding situation is much easier, especially for a person with limited mobility. Enter at low level; nearby elevators (and stairs) provide access to the entire ship. The only downside for passengers is entering a plain, utilitarian space rather than a "Wow" space. deladaff Posted February 9, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2017 We came off the Grandeur on Jan 30. The ramp is still not repaired. Passengers now enter on Deck 1, which used to be the boarding entrance for handicapped. It's just like reboarding the ship after a port-of-call visit. It's actually a lot easier than walking up the back-and-forth ramp from before.

I read that the ramp is now fixed and in operation. Would you know if people with limited mobility can choose to embark at the lower level to avoid the steep incline...or is this now closed off?

I see no reason to discontinue this boarding process. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
