Rare GeorgiaPeach51 Posted July 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Can anyone make a guesstimate re: when they will publish and open bookings for 2017? Since the fiords cruises are pretty few and far between I would imagine they book pretty quickly? I see very little information on the boards about this particular cruise, so I'm hoping they still have it in 2017! Thanks for any info you might have. ClaudiaB Posted July 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2015 Before you book, check Azamara's Norway cruises. We booked a 15 day Norway cruise for August 2016. I think their itineraries are much better. Goes all the way to the north cape.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted July 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2015 Azamara already has their 2017 schedules out. The Norwegian Fjords cruise will be on Journey, timed for the midnight sun on June 23 (14 days). Azamara just started a new sale offering double upgrades, and your Celebrity status carries over (and the Azamara points flow back to Celebrity). These cruises sell out quickly. Thanks, Jazz, but I priced Azamara, and that's just too much $ for us...though with the double upgrades, it's worth looking again. Appreciate the tip! Any idea when Celebrity might roll out 2017? End of the year, perhaps?

Appreciate the tip! Any idea when Celebrity might roll out 2017? End of the year, perhaps? I was able to download the Europe 2015 brochure in Nov. 2014. But the way Celebrity prices are going up (especially with the new Go Big! pricing structure), the different to Azamara may not be as big as you thought. Rare GeorgiaPeach51 Posted July 2, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted July 2, 2015 You're probably right. I confess to a little trepidation as to what we will face on Monday when we have the full story of our new incentives. We'll find out soon enough. We enjoy the Celebrity experience so much... It's interesting. I was reading on the Cunard boards today for the first time since they do Fiords cruises, too and it struck me (a little slow on the uptake) how very similar Cunard and Celebrity are becoming with their two levels of Grill dining plus the regular MDR and now, our Blu, Luminae plus the regular MDR. Lots of changes in a relatively short space of time.
ClaudiaB Posted July 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2015 And Azamara is all-inclusive. You get drinks and tips are part of the fare. So you have to figure that in. Our cruise is still 13 months out but we're already excited. It'll be our first Azamara cruise. I really love their itineraries.
Rare Azulann Posted July 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I am guessing the 2017 sailings will be released sometime in November/December. This is based on last years 2016 sailing released. I booked a cruise for summer of 2016 in early Jan of 2015. I too am looking the same type of sailing for 2017.
Rare GeorgiaPeach51 Posted July 2, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted July 2, 2015 ClaudiaB, my twin sister and husband, who love Celebrity as much as we do, did an Azamara around the British Isles....they really enjoyed it. Thought the food was better; their only quibble was that they got bored at night. I think this would be less of a factor in port-intensive cruises since you blast around all day, come back, eat and fall dead in the bed on those types of cruises. At least that was the case for us when we did the Med a few years back. Azulann, thanks...I'll mark my calendar to start watching around that time. For what it's worth, Princess, Cunard, Tauk all have cruises to that area. We said goodbye to Princess long ago, but there are lots of cruise lines that do that cruise in variations, but just not many times a year apparently. The reviews are pretty sparse but the people who have gone seem to love it!
4774Papa Posted July 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 2, 2015 We want to do the North Cape as well. NCL and Royal Caribbean both have good cruises to the North Cape.
Rare GeorgiaPeach51 Posted July 2, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted July 2, 2015 4774Papa, thanks, I did check into Royal...but the ones I saw were for the Brilliance which is not getting good reviews. However, we have never been on RC so have no basis for comparison. It is the smoking policy, even with the changes, that keep us away. The last time we tried a casino that had a non-smoking section it worked about as well as you would logically expect since smoke-filled air has no allegiance to one side of a room over another. Not trying to start anything, know this is a hot button issue with people....it's just one of the limiting factors for us in branching out into other cruise lines, much as we would like to try others... We've done Carnival, Holland America and Princess; Celebrity fits us like a glove....
maggie.1008 Posted July 2, 2015 #12 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I would try Azamara even if you had to go in a lower class room. We did the Baltic on Azamara. In almost every port we were right in town. The large ships like Celebrity were miles away. The service is smashing. You are right about the night life. The bar is pretty much it. The few shows they put on were worth while.

We prefer Celebrity, but NCL has great entertainment and excellent specialty restaurants at modest supplementary prices. Also, NCL's smoking policy was revised recently and no smoking on balconies. I think they still allow smoking in the casino, which we never enter. Also, NCL is usually cheaper than X.
