highcbob Posted September 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Some interesting detailed info on QV's public rooms and restaurants. Sounds good in print ( not sure about the partial "Golden Arrow" train theme in Britannia though ) - let's wait and see how it comes together. http://www.cunard.com/AboutCunard/NewsReleases.asp?Cat=&View=ViewArticle&Mode=News&ContentID=6783&Active=News

Mind you, Pullman cars were beautifully made.... I'm not sure that suggesting the Lido is based on the Roadchef on QE2 is a good idea. It must be the only area of QE2 I actively dislike, but can't see myself worrying too much when I'm on board - I've never eaten at the Roadchef on QE2 and don't intend to start now! I hear on the grapevine that I will not be disappointed with the whistle...... Matthew

Takes me too long to get dressed, my long tresses dried and styled, my jewelry carefully chosen... And that's on the casual nights! <G> Hot and cold canapés are served while live music plays in the background from late afternoon through early evening, Okay, in light of my previous statement, is this new? Admittedly, I never make pre-dinner afternoon cocktails. But I don't remember ever hearing (or seeing on the rare occasions I made it there during the day, with so much else to do) about canapes (hot and cod) being served in the commodore Club on QM2, unless you count the bar mix and peanuts! Anyone else? Penny? Hmmm, A, C, and D cabin classes eat in the Britannia. Is B class a la carte, like the new EZcruise? Brown Bag it? Karie, who will have to not eat for a year before going on board the Vicky, according to some of the rich choices (hors d'oeuvres in the Veuve Cliquot sound fine!) exlondoner Posted September 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Certainly they were serving canapes in the Chart Room on QE2 last summer, and in the QG bar. I did not partake, but noticed as I passed through. Don't know if it was every night though.

pnhmrk Posted September 28, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Don't know if it was every night though. I can't speak for the Champagne bar because I've never stopped in there for a drink or the Golden Loin because I don't like it so I don't go there, but in every other bar on QE2 they do serve preprandial canapés:)
guernseyguy Posted September 28, 2007 Author #10 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Cunard's customary attention to detail is evident in even the smallest but essential points, including martinis shaken tableside Martinis shaken:eek: Some attention to detail! The Commodore Club seats 122. the 77-seat Chart Room the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar accommodates 34 guests. The 116-seat Golden Lion Pub Café Carinthia 59-seat café also has a full bar. So there is space for 408.....and 2000 onboard....sounds cozy......and the 275 seat Queen's Room sounds like it will be popular at Tea time....as long as no more than 14% of the passengers want Afternoon Tea...... Peter But with all those balconies, won't tea on the balcony be an option? It's lovely.... We had a gorgeous tea on our balcony outside Guernsey a couple of years back. That was the trip when we couldn't get in to tender, but it was calm enough for QE2 to be completely still. Gorgeous October day. Matthew

Not with the Bar staff in the Commodore club - thats how they teach it at the Martini mixology classes they do........I thought one of the better jokes in the recent Casino Royale was when, after losing heavily at the gaming table Bond goes to the bar and asks for a Dry Martini - the Bar tender says 'Will that be shaken or stirred sir?' to which Bond replies 'Do I look like I care?'..... Peter I don't understand this shaken or stirred bit. After all, when I make my martinis, there's gin... and well... That's it! What's to shake or stir? Karie, shaking her head, and all stirred up about nothing, why, nothing at all (gets added to my martini!)

Matthew Well, *I* think it's pretty neat! <G> Ice? What!?! And water it down? Eek! Karie, who calls that "alcohol abuse!" <LOL> P.S. If you just chill it, in an ice bucket or freezer or fridge, it is fine! After all, you wouldn't add ice to fine champagne would you? <G>
