jgomila198101 Posted February 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Yes it's true, i received an automated call from Carnival that the Engine room caught on fire and they will be late. Then they spit out a number too fast for me to write down. It's okay, a little google showed it's happened more than once. It might be time to retire this ship lol

gtonda Posted February 10, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2013 We got the email notification on the way to Galveston, 2 hours out. I'm driving in a 15 passenger van that we paid $330 to rent to get the 8 of us down here. We have 3 hotel rooms booked for tonight in Galveston, kind of annoying that they do not have any more definitive information as to what the game plan is. I hope they plan on reimbursing travel costs.
firemanbobswife Posted February 10, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2013 I guess another reason to get insurance. JRock59 Posted February 10, 2013 #25 Share Posted February 10, 2013 First, thankfully everyone is ok it may not be enjoyable conditions but they are safe. Second, I see a dry dock visit in the near future like they did on the Destiny back in '09 when she had the same problems but w/o the fire. Sounds like the engines need a good tune up.
