TNGirl12 Posted March 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2017 So it's been about 9 yrs since I have cruised and want to make sure I pack & dress accordingly. Shore excursions are a no-brainer for me... bathing suit, sun dress, towel, water shoes. At sea days when not at the pool, do you see many ladies in active wear clothes (when you just want to lounge around the ship, sit at a bar, or partake in an activity during the day)? Obviously, at night for dinner, I know how to dress for the occasion and atmosphere. THIS IS JUST FOR THE DAY activities... I'm not really a shorts person and basically live in active wear when at home BUT don't want to seem out of place on the ship. Suggestions...comments??? SuiteTraveler Posted March 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2017 Nowadays, it really depends on what cruise line you are on. Carnival, NCL, RCCL - wear anything - it literally doesn't matter and even in the evening at dinner you can wear anything you want with the exception of shorts. Princess, HAL and Celebrity - cruise wear or resort wear is more appropriate. My only concern with the active wear is that it might be a bit too hot on a Caribbean cruise - but you know your own comfort level in terms of temperature. It depends on what cruise line you're on, as well as where you're cruising (for instance, Caribbean cruises will probably be more informal than a Med cruise). You can do a Flickr or Google Image search to see if anyone has posted photos of themselves aboard -- that's a good way to see what regular people wear, not the models they use in advertising. What you wear on at sea days really does not ..."depend(s) on what cruise line you are on..." -- be it Cunard, NCL, Princess, HAL, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean or Carnival --- a sea day is a sea day - and has NO suggested (or implied) dress code. Those lines which make any suggestion at all only do it with regard to evening hours, or dining facility.
cb at sea Posted March 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2017 Daytime attire is swim suit/cover up, or shorts. It's not fancy on ANY line. Comfort and utility is the "dress of the day".

Active wear or neat and casual. Depending on the weather. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
easyboy Posted March 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2017 For daytime, wear what is most comfortable for you that may not be offensive for you when you see others wear it.

And my experience is that what's common does vary with the cruise line - in some cases, significantly.
TNGirl12 Posted March 25, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted March 25, 2017 Thank you everyone for the comments and suggestions. I'm on the 04/15 NCL Escape (Eastern Caribbean). Just looking for the most comfortable attire for pub crawls, casino action, lounging, etc. during the day. All was appreciated! Can't wait to meet new and friendly faces...3 weeks and counting!
